My first post. We have a 2012 X250 motorhome. Since new we have had mechanical insurance. Earlier this year the water pump failed. Big job to replace it - the water pump is an integral part of a much larger housing - also containing the cam belt. The issue: The insurers are claiming that the labour is only three hours whereas it took an experienced mechanic 6 hours. I would like to challenge this so:
Any ideas about "official" labour times for this work? and
Are there TWO water pumps and/or is this fairly unusual pump non standard for the Ducato?
TIA

From a quick google search 2.55hrs seems to be about right for a timing belt, tensioners & water pump change,
If they’re just replacing the pump, I’d go for a belt kit as well while your in there, and probably aux & Air Con belts

If its an A class book times are meaningless it could take 6 hours just to get at it.

Looking at the U tube video (sorry can't post the link) it looks a lot more than 3 hours to me.
Insurers refer to an ICME time of 3 hrs but I can't find corroboration of this.

I had a cambelt (no waterpump) changed 4 years ago and was charged £250 labour including VAT. I am guessing that corresponded to about 4 hours. The company was a Fiat motorhome specialist who have done this sort of job many times before.

Fiat publish a repair times manual available to dealers. If you ask one nicely they might tell you. But as corcai said unless it's a standard panel van cab and front end the published times will be meaningless.
