Hi all hope your all well.

Not posted on here for a while, but recently planned a trip away in our Motorhome only to discover coolant leaking from underneath from rear of engine. Leak got worst when I revved engine. On further inspection and removal of Inlet Manifold, Exhaust Manifold, front Exhaust pipe, Turbo and a few other parts. I could see one of the smaller engine core plugs was leaking.

I've ordered new ones to replace the all, but on removing the steel pipe which runs along rear of engine from water pump to thermostat. I decided to check inside the water pump by first cleaning it then pointing my phone in and taking a photo.

There is a part of it which doesn't look right to me, I just wanted others opinions to see if the part circled in red in photo is normal or some plastic or gasket slipped down/broken off.

I look forward to your comments as usual and appreciate any words of advice.

Hi all
Thought I'd update this post just in case someone else finds themselves in the same situation. I decided to remove the 5 bolts holding the water outlet cover on for a better look and to check the condition of my 6 year old Magneti Marelli water pump.

Turns out the part which I circled in red is perfectly normal. And the propellers of the water pump are all in good condition, they are metal not plastic. The bearings seem OK too.

So I removed the old paper gasket cleaned the surfaces of both the cover and the housing and applied a bead of Elring Dirko gasket sealer then refit it.
