hi,guys
i was out driving about, after 3-4 stops car has just stopped completely, turning ignition on every single lights come on and off as it should do,but nothing else happening,no stater noise no ticking no clicking,i managed some guys to push start and got home safe and sound,

i have noticed battery light was turning on and off on dashboard while i was driving back to home,i turned it off that was it,last 5 days it is laying out side,i have bought new starter, new battery nothing has changed,

i am not sure if it is about electrical problem between battery to starter, from alternator to starter or ignition to starter?

could any one to suggest me to check any other things? by the way from ignition to solenoid there is a small brown cable, when i use multi meter,i touch positive on this cable negative to earth on battery,it reads 0.00 ignition off,it reads between 5-6v when ignition left on,i have read somewhere it says, this must be minimum 12v to power solenoid?

my mechanic is on holiday, normally it takes car, sorts it out and brings it back but now,i have just stuck, garages ask me to take car to them, but i even do not have any one to push it for me,i am in such a poor situation

any help please,thanks:worship::worship:

Check that the other end of the battery earth lead has not dropped off of the chassis/ engine/ gearbox or wherever its supposed to be bolted to.

thanks,i will report back,

meanwhile just to give more information, while back i have topped battery up with "BATTERY ELECTROLYTE / ACID" i think i have done more than it needed, there are some toxic stain drops which is now in white marks,

i am wondering if it has caused any disconnection to cables, after above recommendation,i will clean them all, even may change some of the cables, thanks for respond

Did you try a jumpwire on the solenoid?
Not 100% sure about the doblo but in general there is a small wire to the solenoid which is powered by the ignition switch. Power to this energises the solenoid which, in turn leads to engine turning over.
You could perhaps disconnect this and connect a short length of wire to the terminal. With the ignition on, touch the other end of the wire to battery positive (and disconnect as soon as the engine turns & fires (if it turns).
if this works then I suspect the ignition switch is faulty- or something along the original wire.

The battery light may be unrelated - slack belt?

here`s guys

after 6 days and spending on starter motor, new battery, battery terminal, cable, finally i have managed to sort it out,
i would like to thank you for your suggestions, and i hope pictures might be help for some one who wants it DIY

Ah, so I was close then. Complete loss of high current power can only be a very small number of things.

Thank you for this thread - I've just had the same happen to my 2005 multijet Active.
The earth strap was rotted through where it joins the engine, but the break hidden under the rubber sleeve.
Symptoms were: the car suddenly not starting after a drive, with just a feeble click from the starter, even though the battery seemed charged and good. All normal dash lights came on, except the battery warning light did not. When bump started she ran fine, but the battery light flickered on a few times and the glow plug light came one for a minute. As the battery lost charge various warning lights went on and off until the car just stopped.
You've saved me buying new battery, alternator, etc.
Cheers (y)

I just had same problem, wish i checked here first, bought new battery & starter, & was just rotten cable when i connected a jumper lead to earth on starter all was fine, so i checked the earth strap & it fell off when i touched it.?

i have a similar problem exept i have no power going to dash appart from speedo and hazzards, any ideas guys?

Thanks again for this solution, I had the same issues with my dads 1.3 multijet non starting issues and thankfully it only cost us a second hand starter which can be returned and half a days time.
the symptoms were occasional clicking of the starter solenoid and the battery and oil lights on the speedo were intermittently lighting and not lighting, and of course the starter wouldnt turn the engine at all.But the car would fire up no problem with a tow,and the starter solenoid was showing 12v when tested while turning the key to start position.

As said already thanks for the help.
