hey im after advive ive read various threads but im still confused i have a 02 seicento it does not have the micro ecu, so if i buy a 1242 8v engine of ebay with the cam sensor in the rocker cover do i just change the pulleys and water pump of the 1.1 put a 1242 belt on put it in sort the exhaust spacing out and away i go?

do i still need to swap over the pulleys and waterpump or are they ok on the engines with cam sensors in cam cover

I missed this bit. If you have the later ECU -- metal on wing jobbie -- but with 4 injectors you have a cam sensor and semi-sequential injection just like the Punto Mk2. You just have a much more reliable ECU. (There were 3 fitten to the 1108 Sei -- the SPI one, the early MPI "micro ECU" one and the late MPI "metal box on the wing" one).

I'm told it's only semi. But could be wrong. Please elaborate!

Not much to elaborate. The sole purpose of the cam position sensor in fire engines is for sequential injection. Sequential injection is also one of the few reasons why I recently took on disecting the Seicento MPI ECU for the purpose of turboing it. The spark though is still in wasted mode, you can call it semi sequential if you will ;)

For two injectors at a time you don't need a cam sensor, this is what the (hated by me) IAW 18FD ECU does in mk1 punto 16V engine. IAW 4AF (the "big metal thing") fires one injector at a time in a proper once per two crank revolutions cycle.
