Can somebody please help? I have a used 2001 Seicento Sporting which I bought 6 months ago (179000km) and which now has 185,000km on the clock. About 1,000km ago the car would die when running against compression –be it at low speed in traffic or high speed on the freeway. Once it dies it will not restart unless you either (a) leave it for 10-15 minutes or (b) disconnect a battery terminal for 5-10 seconds. Once it restarts it pulls like a train, no misfiring, no lack of power or any other maladies. The car might then behave perfectly for the next few days, or sometimes even suffer multiple failures on the same day. There appears to be consistent pattern—it happens whether the car is hot or cold—the only consistency is that it happens when running under compression, never when the engine is pulling. I have taken the car to 3 local “experts” and following their advice have replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor—all to no avail!
Is there anybody out there who can provide some insight?
