In my house!
righty, i got my new guage and pipe insert from demon tweeks fitted to my sei sporting in the heater matrix pipe which comes off the head (good place?)
and the guage works okish, it reads a normal temp when driving normal of bout 96-99'c!! is this right?

i dunno but my mate says it shud be bout 90'c and the fan kicks in bout 103'c on the sei sportings.

i dunno if i got something wired up wrong or what. the fan kicks in when guage bout 103'c so i think he right but im bit para bout my engine bein at 96-99'c all the time!!

could a bad earth from the sender cause this problem or the internal flow of water cus the sender isnt actually in the flow of water with thee way the insert is designed! or have i just picked a bad place to put it? iu know some people use a resistor in line to correct any temp errors, what value is it?

i half drained system too and put 1l of anti freeze in and topped up with water but im wondering if i put tooooo much antifreeze in!

plssssssssss can someone help, especially silversei cus i know you got one in!!

my cinq sits just below 90c, prolly around 80c. The fan kicks in at 93c i thought.

they are readings taken from the head though, not near the heater matrix.

GeX has a gauge in his sei, but thats using a sender in the head too. It sits at a similar temp to mine.

it just seems like im over reading by 10'c then!

any other takers??

is there anyway u can get a reading from the head an not the heater matrix?

that would be the best way to check.... but at the end of the day, as long as the fan kicks in, then kicks off again, and it doesnt have to keep the fan on while driving to keep the thing cool then u shouldnt have a problem!

unfortuantely there is no way to get reading from the head cus the temp sender in the head is needed by the ecu in mk2 sei's :( the fan still kicks in as normal and heater blows hot, its weird! gonna re bleed system and check it again, maybe try different sender from work. If none of these work then ill try the trick someone else on here said and try to fit a resistor in line with the sender to bring temp down to 90 instead of 100, it just seems to be reading 10'c too much. tried ringing fiat to ask what normal op temp of sei is......."sorry sir, we dont know that!", im sorry, but what kind of a dealership are they when they dont know what the normal op temp is!!!!!!!! :(

i dunno, the sender in head has two wires which goes to it instead of the normal 1. but the mk2 seis dont have a temp guage, just a light wen it gets to hot, so i dunno if the sender in is a switch on and off type, or a variable one? thought bout the splice idea but didnt wanna screw the signal to the ecu!

hhmmmmm, i see what you mean tho, its just which wire wud i have to splice tho? with there being two!! im wondering if one is - and one is + instead of the sender earthing out to the head?

the guage has a ignition +, earth and sender wire. ive got the igntion + running to the fan fuse in the fuse box, the earth to a screw down behind dash and the sender wire to....the sender lol.

well, couldnt u run the sender wire from the wire comin from the sender in the head that runs to the ecu?

in theory then the sender in the head mesures the temp, runs up the wire to the ecu, where it get spliced and runs to the temp gauge.... as long as the signal is the same as the one that the gauge needs, then it should read the temp comin from the sender in the head.

i suppose it is possible, if i take the sender wire and touch it to each wire on the sender and see if the gauge moves at all?!?

mase, ill try this tonite, and if this works and works well ill either kiss you or buy you many many beers when i see you :)

well in theory it works as u are using the same wire to take a reading from a different sender!

i am guessing u will need to splice the + wire comin from the sender in the head, there might only b the 1 wire....

and if it works then beers will be fine man! no offence of course, i am sure u are cute ;)

well ive lloked at the sender in the head and it has two wires coming from it, which is quite weird! but anywho, like i say ill try both wires and see what happens, hopefully nothing bad!! if this doesnt work ill see bout trying a diff guage and if it still same then, then ill try the resistor trick but i dont know wot value to use tho? anyone??

p.s. iam pretty cute LMAO

sounds good to me, only prob is i dunno which is + and which is -
ill just have to try pot luck and see, just got selection of other senders from work and will try them to see if i get a difference if sender in head trick doesn't work!
