I have a 1998 Seicento Sporting and yesterday got a recall note in from Fiat UK saying the fuel tank needs to be checked so I've booked it in but just though I would let you guys know in case Fiat don't have your address and then they wouldn't get in contact with you.

how do they know where all the fiat seicento owners live? i mean surely there not allowed to ask the dvla, cus that would probably be against the data protection act or summet? i'm just worried that i'm not going to get a letter! lol

They know where Fiat owners are only if you are registered with a Fiat dealership, since I bought mine a year and a half ago it has a two year extended warranty provided by the dealer (Its a 98) so I have been registered with Arnold Clark both when I lived in Scotland and now down in the Birmingham area. I assume that's where they got my name. Haven't checked my chassis number but I've booked it in anyway, might as well if Fiat are going to pay for it!!!

ok my car is within the range, but is there anything i can show my local that will stop them from saying "We dont know anything about that"?

your dealer shouldnt say anything like that mate, they might say that you need the letter to get the work done. dont worry though, the letters *do* get through to the current owners. for example we had a punto in recently for the brake pipe recall that was on its 6th owner....and the letter found him alright ;)

Just spoke to Fiat and they said that letters have already been sent out to all effected vehicles, and say that if we don't recieve one soon then we're not affected. I'm pretty sure my chassis number is in the affected list tho so if i don't get a letter soon i'll call them again, lol.

Fiat UK said just ait for your letter, they wouldn't even check the chassis number for me, u think they'd be a bit more customer orientated these days. I just got an email back off the VOSA sayin:

" I can confirm that we are currently working with the manufacturer on this issue and a recall launch is expected shortly. Be reassured that they will be contacting you by letter. They have access (for safety issues only) to the DVLA keeper information and will be able to trace you through the vehicle VIN number.

As soon as you receive your recall notice, I would recommend you contact
your local dealer to arrange for your vehicle to be reworked.

Remember, however that there will only be vehicles of a certain year
recalled and not all Seincentos. In this case it is vehicles registered in part of 1998 and 1999. "

Hope thats of help to everyone
ps i've just noticed she spelt Seicento wrong, how harsh! lol

darn it, my chassis num is way after
00577390

chaning the tank was my ticket to installing a new tank sensor which is knackered.
Fuel gauge shows half when full. Works when tank is under hlaf empty. Dam thing.
