Technical Sei fuel tank - breather valve connector

hi,
i broke one of the plastic connectors on the breather valve lines while replacing the line. i had a look at it, and it does seem to only be a connector and nothing else. i used some fuel hose and jubilee clips to fix it.
is this correct? are the connectors there only to make replacing the lines a bit easier (so you don't have to replace the entire line in case it breaks)?
