As the title says I got round to fitting my Punto Gt turbo brake callipers today along with the vented disc's (Maxtorq group 'N') and MIntex M1144 pads as well as Goodridge Stainless steel brake lines. :D

I thought i would post up some before and after pics plus side by side shots so you can see the physical difference in size between the parts. :)

It should be stressed though that anyone wanting to do this will need a minimum of 14" wheels to fit them inside! Other than that, they are a straight swap over with nothing special needed to fit them except an 11mm brake pipe union spanner & 13mm & 17mm open ended spanners to remove old rubber brake pipes, re-fit s/s ones if your doing that as well, and a decent socket set to remove the calliper (y)

The original Cinq sporting is on the left, Punto GT right with a before and after shots last.

PS any one who's wondering what the silver things are with bolts in them that's the 30mm FK Performance spacers I use to fit my wheels. (y)

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

Yes those spacers means that you keep you original wheel bolts and to be honest i think they are way safer than the standard type of spacer. I got them from http://www.performancedriven.co.uk but the web site is down at the moment? http://www.europerformance.co.uk/FK.htm they do FK but i don't see the spacers listed. http://www.fk-automotive.de/en/ the FK site in Germany but translated in English.

I think Eibach do them think they're called pro-spacers http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/
and I know for def that you can get S-Racing ones from Demon Tweeks.

The reason I went for the FK ones is they were the only ines I could get in 30mm which are big!

Very nice Aaron, *drools*, would have went for grooved or drilled discs myself for the full effect but hey!

Are you missing a splash shield there?

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

No I never painted them as you don't see them behind my wheels so theres no point and I did think on getting grooved, but after reading a thread on a forum for Honda Type R's the standard Maxtorq seem to be the highest rated disc's for longevity and on track behaviour this was the finding of 2 guys who run Integra Type R's purely as track cars and found they were getting 5 or 6 full on track days out the disc's whereas they were finding some other big name disc's were warping too easily & drilled ones were cracking after only 2 - 4 track days, but if they were on show well through the wheel, then that would have been a different matter ;)

PS there is a splash shield behind the disc its just that its about the same diameter as the disc so you don't see it from the front (y)

On my Cinq you can't see the Alternator though.

Liam

Oh I get you mate, well theres never been one there since I got the car as the alternator was the first thing I changed on the car as it didn't charge above 3000rpm! doesn't seem to do it any harm, and I remember on the 5 Turbo you used to remove those splash guards to let more heat out! :D

I'll check out Jamie's car at the weekend see what I'm missing

Oh wait a minute, I remember I removed something from below the rad that was connected to the wheel arch liner and front bumper, but it was cut away in the middle where the turbo sits and it was catching on the ground at high speed due to the air pressure pushing it down , i just cut it off and threw it away, is it part of that?
