i sheered a bolt head off... how the F**K do i fix that

i think you need to drill the rest of the bolt out and then replace the top mounting bolt somehow (dont worry jug will know he has said it happened to him before)

You need to reverse drill it to get it out.


Or scavange one from a Tipo based car in a scrappy.

when the whole strut is out they are easy to get to with a set of molegrips i am excellent at snapping bolts in the strut did three in a row last week

when the whole lot is off, cover the rest of the bolt in penetrating oil. then saw a groove in it, then put screw driver in the groove an twist it out

im gonna do 6 in a row, i can feel it

got a long bar cos i got little girl arms and they are tiiiiight. few turns then a bang noise and off it comes

The long bar is called a breaker bar cause thats what it does " Break things" dont use it. use a normal socket rench or something. Never use a big bar

it aint a breaker bar.. its just an extension thing... i cant use a proper socket ratchet thing cos i aint strong enough

Are you sure you are loosening and not tightening the bolts kay?

You need to otherwise you will snap all of them. you have to use a normal socket wrench.

Spray again with WD40 (absoultly cover it in it and let it soak in and repeat three or four times then try again)

once the strut is off you can get some mole grips on the remaining bit and wind it out from its rusty side. not as easy as it sounds tbh. then go to a scrapyard and get the same bolt from a bravo/a to replace it.

in my case the thread on the strut was buggered afterwards so i used a tap&die to repair it well enough for the bolt to go back in, and then only nipped it up when refitting instead of giving it a good tighten.

i wouldnt say it was easy, but molegrips are defo the way to do it.

i changed the top mount as it was cross threaded.
