Forgive my ignorance but can you change gear whilst your foot is down on the accelerator with a Selespeed gearbox. My Fiat dealer says that you have to take your foot off the accelerator everytime you change gear .. like a manual. Is this right.

Yep, that is right as it's not a full automatic gearbox.

It´s not really necessary to take your foot off to be able to shift, but it will allow the selespeed to shift smoother, especially in automatic mode. If your revving real hard the shift will go quicker too.

Don't do it. The selespeed box on the Stilo is dreadful. If anyone is thinking of buying a Stilo Arbarth thinking that its a performance hatch, then my advice is go out and find a nearly new Bravo HGT, it will save you a fortune, it will be more fun and your gear changes will be twice as fast. If you want to here me rant further log on to the Fiat Bravo Forum and look through past threads for a little review I did.

It´s really not done to reply in a different language on a international board...

maar omdat het na een maand nog steeds aardig dood is, en zelfs de moderator onze favorite auto zit af te kraken, laat ze maar barsten.

BTW: the decent acceleration is just a bonus, we want the Stilo because of the features, quality and finish.
