I ran into problems working on a completely restored and overhauled 96 Barchetta. The engine was removed and overhauled and after engine reinstall we have the following problems:

-Injector warning light on with no key present. Light does go off when key switched to ON position.

-Code light on when ignition turned on.

Car does not run. We swapped the hitachi ECU + immobiliser + ignition lock/antenna, relays and door locks with parts of another (running) Barchetta, same problems persist.

We checked and double checked all wiring, connectors, harness, fuses etc to no avail. The dual relay which is supposed to control injection, ignition, fuel pump etc is not activated.

We have all keys including the burgundy red key, but no code card.

Any clues or tips on how to proceed with these problems are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

PROBLEM SOLVED

After another day of debugging the electronics, the problem was found an turned out to be a loose central grounding point, in the schematic designated as #173 . This provides grounding of the hitachi ecu as well as several other components. Apparently it was overlooked when reinstalling the engine. Bummer!

I provide this followup hoping it may help others in the future..

 but where are the parking dent and scrapes... no bubbles of rust on the seams... filthy engine compartment... need I go on? Ah, I've just realised I've given you a clue as to the condition of our 'B'... hmm, I guess I'll shut up now.

Looks fantastic I must admit.. as he walks off muttering to himself
