There's a guy on Autotrader breaking a blue Barchetta and he has a boot lid and tonneau cover for sale. Mine both have little scratches and dings and I'm wondering if you think £100 each for the two bits is a good price? He says they are in perfect condition. And would they definitely be the same colour or could there be quite a variance?

Thanks!

er...yeah, seems reasonable to me.

I've had my midnight blue for seven years, kept outside all year round and no trace of colour fade - plenty of dents though.

Just how bothered are you by them?

[Given the number of blue b's on here I'm surprised there's anything left]

Thanks, he told me to check the paint code - and then if I want to go ahead he said he'd even fit them for me . . . and yes, they do bother me! There is a scratch on the roof cover and two deepish dinks on the boot lid, but the rest is damn near perfect so they stand out. Is tempting!

I wouldn't rely on just the paint code. I'd want to check the match.

I've just had my turquiose B painted. The paint shop guy said that the Fiat paint code colour wasn't even close to the colour that my car had become.

It is likely that two cars of the same colour in different environments could be quite different colours. One garaged and one kept outdoors for example.

If you do buy them and he fits them, make sure you keep your originals. You may be able to make some of the money back iin the future on ebay:)

Thanks all, basically, have decided to take car to him and check them side by side, then if I'm happy with the colour match I'll get him to swap them, but I've already said I want the others back. Good to have spares in case anything happens to the new ones!

Now all I need to work out is how to get the two bits into the boot/ passengere seat/wherever to bring back, without having to make a separate trip in the Audi . . . :)

Yes there are various shades usualy 3 to 5 never 7 a (b) (g)(y) (L) (D) i think you can work out what they stand for no BMW has ever had 15 shades especialy black as its one off the best matches someone has told you porky's Ant!

Metallic paint is a git to paint, not only does it have to be a spot on match, how you paint it on and the environment temperature at the time all play a part in the finish. You can sometimes get a perfect match from one angle, but from another it looks all wrong.

:bang:

Sandard black is just black ( 475) theres no other tinters in it thats why its easy to match, you can buy premixed black on the shelf and it will match bmw audi vauxhall etc im not joking! i never had a prob with the bmw diamond shwartz (ici quality) i can paint a new wing and bolt it on, no fade out required, and thats out of the garage at the side of my house Ant!

Looks like you cleared the living room :) as said I have no idea the bloke that does my cars works for a ford dealership during the day and has his own place at night. He's painted the BMW the Sisley Panda and on Friday will be fixing the wings and painting the other Istanbul panda once he's finished his own project....

Gill, sounds like a good deal to me. Let us know how you get on. I might be interested in the boot lid if you're not. Mine is full of dimples along the lower edge.

Just been out to check the state of mine after the rain. Found some nice big puddles in the roof compartment and under the pasenger seat!

Snap...

Although only very small puddles in mine, but they could cause rust on the seats metal and rails when it evaporates.

So I'm told...

Thanks Alan, I'll check it.

I noteced a trickle of water out of the door trim, presumably coming in through the window seal. Is this common? Any ideas for a fix?
