Tuning Car suddenly races forward

Tuning Car suddenly races forward

I think this is the problem and it’s something the driver should adjust to. When I’m stuck in stop start traffic jams and stopped I always just release the clutch without touching the accelerator pedal as the 500x increases revs automatically which doesn’t require any need to slip clutch. If I was to accelerate then the car would shoot forward quite quickly. The issue above seems to me driver related.

Well to update you all on this issue I have with my car, I've taken it to the Main Dealer who i bought it from, they have run a Diagnostic on it, and have confirmed that it is the Clutch that is slipping.

It is going into the shop in 2 weeks time to have it replaced.

They have said to me that upon inspection of the clutch they will determine whether it can be replaced under warranty or if I need to pay, of course I assume given that statment that whatever the condition of the clutch they are going to find a way to blame me and charge me for it.

The car has done 26k miles over 2 years from new, I only do extra urban driving, so close to bumper to bumper commuting, and then dual carriageway and motorway driving on occasions at weekends and evenings..

Should I be charged for this? Has anybody else had any experiences of this with thier car and was it replaced under warranty or did you have to pay for it?

If the driver rests his foot on the clutch pedal, even light pressure can cause clutch slip.

Potential warranty:
Oil from engine or gearbox.
Release bearing sticking on nose of gearbox.
Release arm pivots tight.
Any failure within the cover assembly.

Get a quote for the cost if not warranty. Should be standard clutch replacement time.

I never rest my foot on the clutch pedal whilst driving. I do often press the pedal when I'm in 1st gear and braking to a stop, could that do it?

Not if you fully depress it..

It is only 'partial engagement' that would wear it.. ;)

No, it's always fully depressed.

So if the garage inspects it and says that it is my fault what come back to I have to say that it's not?

I'm definately not a boy racer, and my driving is average style.

My Partner drives the car too

Just because you don't ride the clutch, doesn't mean it isn't getting ridden (rode?) :)

Unless there's a problem with the hydraulic cylinders, clutch wear can only be down to use/misuse.

I can count using the fingers on both hands how many times my partner has driven my car since ive bought it, so even if she is ridding the clutch, I doubt that the times she has driven it would have contributed to wear and tear enough to make it start slipping...

The one variable I have not seen mentioned..

DMF..

If that is somehow 'distorting'
The flywheel to clutch interface it COULD add to drive problems..

When is it going in ?

Maybe pop into a local indy for a
Quick test drive / diagnosis.

Be good to compare their quote with what the dealer comes back with..

Should be getting my car back tomorrow, apparantly it was a loose bearing in the clutch that had bent a fork and it was this that was causing the Car to Race Forward and to Rev in Higher Gear when throttling...

Hopefully should all be covered under warranty

Got the car back a few days ago, drives really well, in fact it's a little more responsive and a little bit faster, could just be my perception though..

Nothing to Pay, so all good...

I read this "fork" as actually a diaphragm pressure plate "finger" and an associated break in the diaphragm. This could/would certainly potentially result in the diaphragm not releasing smoothly and acting more like a "buckle plate" that "snaps" closed when being released.

Still quite odd though as normally a broken diaphragm would produce a very soft clutch pedal, lack of "bite" and more slipping than was reported.
