Browsing the forum, found a thread on the 500L board that explains updating the UConnect software to what appears to be a very recent version that is meant to stop the annoying restarts that mine has been plagued with since I owned it.
The thread is here, https://www.fiatforum.com/500l/455993-uconnect-5-firmware-update-12-00-24-01-a.html?455993=#post4309568

I have just spent an hour updating mine. So far, other than appearing to be slightly more responsive, there doesn't appear to be much of a change.

Checking the firmware before, I had a version in the 8.something range and this has raised it to 12.00.24.04. Shall just have to wait and see if it still has the rebooting issue.

Mine is the 5", UK spec with the navigation.

A new version has been released, try the 13.x

I personally don't have the nav model on my 500L, it might be linked to that hardware variant? Should get it sorted at the dealer if you got the warranty, mine ended a couple of months ago.

From I think, it could be related to the speed of the USB device as well if you're playing media files or using the navigation. The file format of fat32 seems to work fine, ensure it isn't NTFS or exFat (these are supported by Windows CE, the OS that the uConnect uses) but for compatibility sake.

And make sure you are using the 334 firmware variant and not the CO. This is specifically designed for the other uConnects which seem to have some firmware modules specific to that body computer.

I have mirrored them onto Google Drive for safe keeping as Fiat have not kept the older 06 and 04 versions on their servers, so it's likely we will start to see some versions go away too.

This update doesn't do much tbh apart from add an ecodrive turn on/off function in the voice commands, the changelog is unknown so - who knows?

Some 500X users experience a brighter LCD BACKLIT, supposedly a bug?

For some reason, the My:Car feature stopped working and the unit wanted to try and download the 5.21 Uconnect update repeatedly.
It’s in the dealer this morning to rectify and they mentioned that the update I did was reporting an error, although I have yet to mention I did the update.

Despite it being 2 years old, it seems the head unit has never been updated by the dealer so, I guess it is good that they are finally doing what I should expect they should have done in the first place.

Yep best to do it at the dealer (y)

Most will just say there isn't update available, my dealership does that all the time. As you have got a problem, they will want to fix it.

I always hear problems about the uconnect live features and most of the time its to do with the activation of the radio's unique serial numbers not being recognised on their end.
