Well after 4 years, we have just secured a new car for my daughter so the little 500 lounge is being sold. She needed something with longer legs for the motorway (travelling back and forth from Notts Uni to Surrey).

It's been a great car, now on 84k, it's never once let us down. Yes I've just about rebuilt the thing but they are fun and we've loved the little thing. It'll be a sad day when it leaves the drive for good.

This forum is a great place and I'll take the chance to say thanks for any advice and I hope I've helped a few on the occasions i've contributed.

Good luck to all and happy 500'ing.

Find a multi jet, my daughter has one and regularly uses for motorway journeys and easily manages 55MPG

What are "you" replacing it with? Jap petrol ?

No German petrol. We have had BMW's and VAG stuff since 1997 so she was hell bent on joining us. I've managed to secure her an Audi A1 Sportback S Line. She's saved all her money and has bought her current dream car.

She didn't want another 500. She needed more space and 5 seat belts as they car share from the house to uni. She shares the house with 5 others and can never do her fair share.

I'm in my first ever diesel (BMW 5 series) and it will be my last. I just don't do diesels.

All the owners I've spoken to say the late 1.4 COD EA211 engine A1 will do mid 40s mpg with no trouble, which is in the same ball park as the 1.2 Fiat. Happy with that.
