Hi there

I have a 2015 1.2 Fiat 500 pop. Its done about 6000 miles and I just took it for a 2 year service. As soon as I picked it up from the garage the front brake pad warning light was on but very faintly. When I first turn the ignition on obviously all warning lights illuminate but this one is dull and doesn't go off when the rest do.

I took it back to the garage today who said my brake pads are fine and it must be an electrical fault. They want me to bring it back on Tuesday for a senior technician to look
at.

Does anyone know what this could be? And if it should be covered under warranty?

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome there's been several cases of lights coming on in the cluster either dimly or when indicating if the cars under warranty then go back and ask for a replacement display cluster often the only way to cure it?

Hi

Thanks a lot. Do you think this has happened as a result of something during the service? There was no issue before but as soon as I picked it up the light was glowing.

Also, the car is 2 years old so think Fiat warranty is up. Should my dealer warranty with Arnold Clark cover this?

(Sorry this is my first car so not sure how things work)!

Very hard to say re what triggered the light, perhaps they disconnected the battery during the service? Could be anything, whether the dealer warranty would cover it best check with them but the fault will need investigating to properly confirm what's wrong, just because some here have had that fault may not mean yours is the same hence further looking?

hi,
there have been a fair amount of display's replaced under warranty..

although IF you've just had the wheels off - for a service - there is a chance that one of the wear sensor cables has an issue..,

it basically touches metal - and that circuit is supposed to put the light on..:)

let them check out the wiring..then enquire about warranty if necessary.

I doubt the garage actually took the wheel off to inspect the pads(just looked through the alloy wheel?), ask them to fully remove the pads and refit them?(not replace) Also ask them to check with the sensor wire disconnected, does the light still glow? I think the sensor wire(1 only) is only on the passenger side wheel.

I took it into Arnold Clark this morning and they said it needs a new instrument cluster. Apparently quite a common issue.

Thanks for your help!

I seriously hope for her sake they do, or she can kiss goodbye to around £600, 400 quid for the cluster and probably at Fiat's labour rates, 200 quid to fit it.

You definitely don't want a cluster failure outside of warranty.....(n)

They are, thankfully.

It's only 2 years old so the mechanic I spoke to said it will be covered by warranty.
