Hi,

2011 Twinair, that I've had for a couple of months.

Stop/start hasn't worked for a week or so, and I've had a couple of kangarooing events in 2nd gear.

Today, after a decent run, without headlamps on, the yellow triangle and stop/start symbols lit up, with a stop/start unavailable message.

I've checked a couple of threads, and the battery sounds like the likely culprit.

The cold spell we've been having might be making the battery struggle.

I've got a lithium cell battery boost somewhere, that I've not yet used.

Anyone know if I can safely hook this up, and see if it makes the S/S work, and lights go out?

Cheers, Pete

I'll probably go with a new battery, though they're hellish expensive.

I can only guess at the kangarooing, and I'm hoping it's battery related too.

No other warnings with the yellow triangle, and I'm surprised it took a week of the S/S not working to get a message.

Ho hum.

£87 delivered, which is cheap! From Carparts4less using code BEMINE must order by this Sunday night for one with a 3 year guarantee Lion brand £101 before disc. measure your battery tray before ordering!
That's for the 1.2 maybe different for yours just checked it's the same one.

Update.

Car started next day fine, with no warning lights.

Drove an hour and still fine.

Car stood for 4 hours, and when started, the triangle and S/S unavailable came on again after half an hour.

Also, the gearshift arrows aren't working.

Otherwise, running well.

Cheers.

I have no stop start or gear shift arrows on my twinair Panda... Apparently it's due to a switch attached to the clutch that's broke???

Always thinks the clutch is pressed or depressed .... So I'm told.

That makes complete sense - the arrows go out when the clutch is depressed and the Stop/Start seems to be triggered by lifting up the clutch after going into neutral. Is it an easy fix?

Good question.

From googling, I think there's a switch on the clutch housing (??) and one on the pedal.

Neither are commonly advertised spares.

If it's not my battery, then I'll look at the clutch pedal (when the weather's warmer).

I'd hope it would be a loose or dirty contact.

Updates to follow. Cheers.

Another update.

There's a linkage to the clutch sensor, next to the clutch pedal, and it looks loose/unattached.

I don't know how I'll get to it.

(Plus my door handle's come off it's front pivot. Grrr..)

My mechanic mate is going to sort it for me at some point over the next couple of weeks.... Will keep you posted. He said it's a quick job but requires a few pairs of hands so pretty fiddly.

Excellent, and thanks for the heads up.

I'm just trying to find out if the linkage is available as a part.

I'm 99% sure it's not the actual switch.

It's almost as if a circlip's come off, but it's not easy to see, let alone fix.

Same problem with Ypsilon twin air. See attached picture of detached piece floating behind pedal. It seems also to keep the pedal "up" as well as connect with switch.
Cruise control works for first few minutes, then stop/start warning comes on. Once this happens the clutch release gets juddery, as well as problems with hill-hold system. Waiting on costs from Lancia, sorry, Chrsyler Ireland.

Just got a call - supply and fit €310+Vat from Agnelli Ireland

Try Alasta in Ringsend, Agnelli can be expensive. Is yours a bronze coloured Ypsilon by any chance?

Hi, it's off white, on N.C.R.. I bought it up north and noticed the stop start disabled light on the way to Belfast. I went back to the dealer in Lisburn and they indemnified repairs up to a certain limit. I'm close to T.I. on Cowper Street - they ran diagnostics and the clutch switch came up, (I expected the battery or sensor). It was only after I got a replacement switch that I found the piece swimming around behind the pedal.
The car was a demo in Charles Hurst for a few years, it's a fully loaded "Limited". The magic parking is a howl, perfect for the back streets around Ranelagh, but it takes a second to prompt reverse gear, so on the N.C.R. there's normally someone up my rear and I have to circle the block.
I'll probably have a go at fixing it myself - someone in the forum suggests that it's simple enough.

ok I havent seen it around, if you have the part Gerry in TI should be able to fit for you and you wont be fleeced, you may need error codes cleared after fitting but you could try disconnecting the battery for a while. I had a demo yip from fiat for a while when I was buying my 500 twin - nice car and pretty funky inside, if only it had a lancia badge!!
