Has anyone ever seen a 500 with this sort stripe on it before? Is it OE or after market? This is on a 2011 Twinair.

must be aftermarket

Yup looks aftermarket... and really tacky -- sorry, can't help it, I just don't understand why people break up the clean lines of a nice car with something that looks so out of place

I like it but not the 3 things at the back

Can't say I particularly like this one, but I'm quite partial to a stripe and it does make the car go faster

My last one had the 3 thin Italian stripes, I'm contemplating putting them on my current one.

It is well known that stripes do actually make a car go faster. Particularly Italian stripes. As does red paint! ;-)


Anyway, I hope blackphish hasn't been put off the forum by the negative reception!

But if you want stripes why not have some made to your own design. There are plenty of companies that make them.

Can I ask a silly question please?
We have a 2011 TA and there's nothing that I can see that says what engine is under the bonnet.

How do you know it's a TA?

Is there some way of identifying a TA from a 4cyl petrol or even diesel?

Yes, look at the exhaust, if you can see a backbox it's not a TA (unless it has an aftermarket exhaust )

If you want to be uber nerdy, it's a twinair because you can see it doesn't have a backbox like the 1.2, dismal and 1.4. It's an 85bhp one because the 105 would have rear discs.

i wonder when replacing the backbox when it rusts if you can change the 1.4 backbox for a TA backbox? What would the difference be other than looks?

I guessed there might be an identifier.

Just checked under our TA, it does have a "backbox" but it's tiny - perhaps a resonator?

If your following a TA it looks like it's just an exhaust pipe sticking out but the others have the backbox visible.

And given the fact that the TA is an absolute pleasure to drive, you would be following it, not in front

So you would only be able to identify it from the rear ..as it always gets driven with the eco button off !

The twinair 500 isn't a fast car

All things are relative. But fast enough to be fun and faster than a 1.2 !

NO, you cheat by having a fast car .

Although I have to agree that the TA is a fun car to drive considering its size/power/speed.

Actually I would be happy to play my car is slower than yours as my vw T2 will definitely win!
