Ok so today out driving the 500 and while waiting at a set of lights it actually stalled....I didn't even know automatics could stall. Anyone any idea if I need to get this checked out, or what may be wrong with it? I will add it does have stop start but I'd switched it off....

As Venters tells it, the dualogic gearbox is indeed a manual gearbox with all the bothersome cog swapping and clutch stabbing done by electronically controlled hydraulics; quite different to how a true auto works, deployed by FIAT because it is mechanically more efficient and has less effect on fuel consumption. Your little rascal shouldn't stall. Is it a one off tantrum, or is it a regular embarrassment?
My guess at the moment is that either there is a mismatch in how the engine management system controls the clutch operation as you press the gas pedal to take off, or the throttle position sensor is just starting to develop a dodgy track at the point where the throttle is just opening. Either way, if it happens more than once in a blue moon it wants investigating by a knowledgable specialist and is probably not a DIY fix. It's not something I'd want to meddle with myself, and I'm not unused to poking spanners at cars.
So, not much technical help, but you have at least found yourself amongst sympathetic fellow motorists on this forum!

If it persists I would get it checked at your dealership. We run 2 x Dualogics, a 1.2 Pop and a TA Lounge and have not experienced any problems in the 12 months we have owned.

Get it checked out. The duallogic is a moody and complicated box that needs some dealer care from time to time! I have never stalled in mine.

Hi and sorry to hear you're having problems.

Can I just clarify though; You say you were at a set of lights and it just stalled. You don't say that you were driving off from the lights and it stalled. Sounds more like it actually cut-out.

Did you have to restart the car or did it automatically restart for you?

The reason I ask is that although you may have pressed the S&S button to disengage it the button isn't very accurate and sometimes requires a firmer or another push. The S&S symbol will then show on your display, plus it should scroll a message "Start and Stop Disconnected".

We've had two Dualogics and they've never stalled. Just double-check that S&S is actually turned off the next time you stop.

Complicated, yes. Moody, no. Or at least, not in general. The occasional isolated problem, yes, but no reason for potential buyers to be concerned about it or for existing owners to worry.

My Dualogic has stalled once in two years when I was pulling away from a junction. I had to restart the car.

I ignored it and it's never happened again. So hopefully yours will be a one off too.
