Hello all new here and picked up our new 500 last night.

We've owned old vw's before who all wave to each other so i thought i'd carry on the tradition when seeing other 500's so if you see someone flashing or waving wave back! (y):D

I wave too and / or flash (my head lights, not me personally) but people round here just give me that look as if I'm some kind of escaped mental patient.

I've come from a background of original mini owning where everyone acknowledged each other so it's a shame really.

Excellent! Theres loads round by me so looks like im going to get arm ache!! :D(y)

To whoever waved at me in the punk gray 500 today in north acton (park royal) sorry I didn't wave back, I was trying to avoid the lorry trying to squish me from the side. :)

I still continue to wave at a couple of 500s I see in Brighouse 'from the early days', and a woman near Leeds /Bradford Airport flashes at me when I see her and I flash back.

Otherwise, I just tend to smile at other 500 drivers, and If they're looking, I'd say half of them smile back. There seem to be so many in Brighouse now, but we're also being invaded by Toyota IQ's.

I always wave. But most people round Brighton look like the've had a labotomy when I wave at them!

I'll wave if I see you!! I'm in Hove.
We have a VW transporter camper van and everyone waves, so I started out waving at 500s but got little response
So these days I usually just smile at them!!

I waved at a lovely BNW 500 the other day and the old dears in the car were so exicited she took both hands off the wheel to wave at me :D

The only other one i've seen down my way is in Cha-Cha azure but she has such a sour face i'm too scared to wave.

I've explained here before the reason(s) why I don't feel the need to wave/flash so I won't go there again but here's another reason:

The new 500 has already reached 1/2 million cars produced, and as cute as it can be (I wouldn't say "original" anymore) it is therefore as a mass producted car as much your Fiestas and Corsas are, not as many but you get my point. It certainly isn't a classic car as its predecessor is now and your camper van is (if it is the one I have in mind), so I don't see any more reason to wave a fellow 500ist than if I was in a Mondeo.
I'm not a misery guts (far from it), I just don't see the point. If smiled at I'd smile back as I'm polite though. ;)

When I first got my car a year ago it was the only one around here so I didnt see many so I did wave. These days though, as you say, you see quite a lot of them, so I just smile. However if I saw another NOB one I Would wave! I have still only ever seen one other.

I don't wave as so far nobody has waved at me and I'm too shy  I am however extar considerate to other 500's letting them out at junctions etc :D

Have you found that other drivers are nicer to you in return?? I have! I get a lot more people letting me in front of them etc :) When my friend and I were driving back on the M1 on Sunday a big hairy biker overtook on a harley-type bike and gave us a grin and a wave as he passed :D

Many years ago when the Fiat Cinquecento was new my brother had one. And back then a lot of the Cinquecento's waved at each other. There was especially on guy he often met, who also had a yellow sporting, and they always waved/flashed at each other. One day my brother crashed with his Cinquencento, about 80 km from where he lived. By coincidence his yellow sporting wave-buddy drove by and saw him. He stopped, and drove my brother 80 km home, even though he was going the other direction. I think that was really cool.

Anyway, when I got my 500 I of course started waving at other 500's. But now after 5 months, nobody has waved back, except one woman around 50 years old who I saw about 20 minutes after I picked mine up the first day. She smiled and waved when she passed me.

The other day I was driving around with my brothers girlfriend. She was in her Pink 500 and I was in my white lounge. At some point we met another white lounge and the three of us was driving all the way thru copenhagen. I think we followed each other for around 20 minutes, then he had to turn left, and we continued straight ahead. I of course waved at him, when he left our 500 convoy, but apparently he didn't appreciate the beauty of 3 500's, and didn't wave back. A lot of other people that saw us, did look and smile when seeing 3 500's.

But I'll continue waving. And if I meet another 500 that has crashed, I think I'll offer him/her a ride home if possible, just to let them know that they are members of an exclusive club (with only 500.000 members :))
