General Noisy Fan Motor

General Noisy Fan Motor

what are you lot doing with your 500's  or is this what happens to them and mine's on the brink n I just don't know it yet  lol

my clutch pedal does this squeak thing, but only when the weather is wet it seems - I like it though, it's kinda cute :D

Mine too has a noisy heater fan - worse on position 2 (sounds like the fan blades catching) but ok at other speeds. My other car (57 plate Scenic) also has a noisy fan (on 3rd speed) and so did my previous other 2 scenics!!

I love the 500 to bits though and it's nearly a year old now. Hasn't been back into the dealer since we got it (touch wood!) but do need the following now looking at:
  • Fan noise
  • rattle/creak from behind dash - central radio area
  • occasional 'strange' noise from near n/s/f speaker footwell area
  • stiff rear wiper switch
  • occasional flat spot we pulling away (although has got better with miles - currently 5000)
That's about it though!

Do all you people with noisy fans have the standard A/C or Climate control? I have the climate and no problems with fan noise but I have 12 speed settings.

I notice that most of you mention the noise on the lower fan speed position and wonder if this is because the ordinary A/C has a dial for the speeds as opposed to the push button up and down on the climate unit.

 I wonder if the fan is different between the two types.

Are you sure you have 12 speeds? Only a few days ago you were unsure of whether you had 5 gears or 6! :ROFLMAO::devil:

I double check everything now before I post knowing you are stalking my posts. lol. Anyway, it wasn't me that thought I had 6 gears it was ecodrive. :D

I feel guilty now. Im glad I have inspired you to check the accuracy of your posts tho, self improvment is always worth doing. And to go almost on post... my fan is fine except that the numbers on my dial dont line up with the knob. Anyone else have knob problems? I'm not sure whether it is annoying me or not, or whether its a case of :life:

I also have climate and I find in cold weather the fan is noisy only on the minimum setting. The climate defaults to this until the temp rises, then the climate increases the fan speed (and the noise goes).

Mentioned this to the dealer but when they tried it all was silent, so watch this space.

I have a 500c that is 2 1/2 months old and is going in for its 4th!!! heater motor, getting very fed up with it now!!! It really has spoiled the car for me

I have climate control and the fan is noisy - sounds like a fluttering bird or a leaf stuck in the motor. It is going to be replaced in early January along with the microphone for Blue&Me.

Otherwise no major gripes so far. Sometimes I get the 'groaning' clutch when the car is used first thing in the morning and it has been very wet. I think it is quite a funny little noise like she is having a bit of a groan or exhalation of breath.

I've got the leaf fluttering as well, only on level 1 fan though. I was going to get it fixed at the 1st service but it stopped doing it in August. It's started doing it again in this cold weather. Ho hum.
