cant speak for kiwi's but in oz the cost of living was much, much lower than in the UK.
so whilst looking at UK money you think its loads.11.5k isnt a high wage.
of course some of us have bills to pay as well ;)

And to be fair to Chris, he lives in London so it's also the second most expensive city in the world after Tokyo  £11.5K is not a big wage at all, especially when you consider the national average is something like £22K.

But, where there's a will there's a way. Maybe forgoing that holiday will allow the Turbo to stay, a worthwhile sacrifice methinks. When I was younger I used to do that all the time if I wanted a nice car/ motorbike. I gave up one holiday to have a Kawasaki GPz550 (y)

I guess it all depends how much Chris wants the turbo really. Put it this way - turbos are getting old and difficult to find in nice condition. A holiday destination will always be there. The holiday can wait methinks ;)

HERE HERE!! (y)

I look at it this way, take it now or itll never be there again!.....but if it is, itll be at premium rate!!

and every one i know wonders why i have been waiting 2 years for my UT!

I garuntee(?) youll regret it if you sell it

you lot are all geting the wrong idea... i dont want to sell it!.. it isnt a choice really. I can either be skint for anotehr year and never do anything for myself and hope my premium drops next year OR sell it, get a normal car and have some money for myself.

The holiday is paid for now so I havent got a choice.. i just owe my mum the money so im goin whether i like it or not. ive just gotta get a passport first  Got 4 weeks left! was a last minute holiday and noone knew my mum was booking it so I didnt get my passport done..

At £1000 why not take it off the road and store it for a year or two until you can afford the insurance. Buy a cheap cinq or something like that as a runaround. As 1986Uno45S says Turbos are getting rare so don't let your mint one get away.

becuase I need a car and cant afford a new one at the moment.. i have a holiday to pay for ...

as far as storing it goes, ive got nowhere to store it! the drive is always in use and we havent got the space for another car in this household!

I dont wanna get some crappy cheap car cause ital have things wrong with it which means more money being spent.

Even if i were to keep it, £1600 is way too much for insurance. its stupid money..

Its a tough call mate, maybe you could sell it onto somebody you know if you really have to that is and have some kind of agreement whereby they cant sell it to anyone else but back to you??? Sounds daft i know but at least that way you have some kind of a guarantee of getting it back some other time, unless they prang it in a lampost that is... lol Have you tried H.I.C and adrian Flux insurance Chris???

The problem is your age and lack of NCB discount, £1600 is a lot but my cousins 17 and he got quoted £2000 for a 1 litre nissan micra lol Insurance premiums have gone way out of control these days...

 F R O $ T Y

i dont expect them to improve either,as we have a real spate of fast motors coming out again.
remeber we had a few years of luke warm cars but it seems to be better now but you know what that does to insurance

As a recipient of one of your former cars I had to contribute to the thread!!!

You have met me so you know I am an oldie, but I only went back to college 2 years ago - one more year then I get my degree (hopefully!!). I have only been driving 4 years so I am careful about what car I buy cos of insurance costs (plus being a poor student) and like you I change my cars on a weekly basis (except red cinq).

However: you don't want to sell turbo soooooooooooooooooo........ wouldn't it make sense to get another job, cos the wage is pants for London, then all the probs are sorted for you - higher income, can afford the insurance, hols etc. Plus if photographic place is dying best to move now than end up out of work and further your financial depression. College will wait another couple of years - giving you a chance to save a little.

What job do you want to do at the end of college? Is it something you could study at evening classes or open uni etc - achieve all your aspirations at once then!!!!

Lecture over!!! - Keep the car you know you want to :)

PS you haven't got a spare crank sensor for a cinq sporting amongst your collection have you? :D

Serin, my MK1 was 1300! thats why I got the MK2, didnt realise the difference would be soooo much!.. i expected maybe another 100 at the most.. not 300!

Hi jets :D sorry, i havent got many cinq parts anymore, pretty sure I havent got one of those! try dave!

and yeah, I would like to get another job. But i do like mine though, just got a little tired of it, and yeah, its not great pay!

Was going back to college to continue studying mechanical engineering so not really something I could do as a night course as its full time. as you say, college will wait a few years but by then I will be wanting to move out, I want to move out now as it is lol. Not a chance in hell down here anyway. London is stupid money for first time buyers.

Got alot to think about. But I think its for the best :

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! Don't do it!

Remember how you regreted selling the mk1 Uno turbo? Just think, you'll have to go through those same regrets all over again...

Then again Chris, we all know you can't keep hold of a car for more than a few weeks at a time so maybe this isn't that surprising really  :p
