I opened the hood and entire engine was covered with oil and the oil plug(cork) on the top of the camshaft was missing  I refiled the oil and got oil cork from Uno fire (does not fit completely, and I have oil leak now, until I get new original one)

Before I take any action, what was the couse of this

oh you have the old type you just plug in right? i was driving like 80 when i drove over something .. sec. after my oil warning started to show! i puled over and .. yes it was gone.. walked back and found the thing ha. refiled oil and never happend again! if you are desperat go out and find one with a scrue cap from a newer fiat tipo or maby a punto ELX 90 same engine. oh look out not to tighten the bolts .. they arent very strong ! and change gasket (gasket has to be fitted the right way around!! it will go on 2ways but there is a slight differens in bolt holes!)

I've got anotherone from scrapyard. This one is hard to pull out and hard to plug in. As it was supposed to be. The one I lost, was bought 2 months ago, becouse my old-one was leaking. But the new one was to easy to pull out, so I guess that is the reason, why I lost it. Everything is fine now, and about the gasked.. it has been changed several months ago and not a drop of oil anywhere. Engine looks like new (y)
