Just had a puncture on rear tyre this morning and when I took it off, there were thin wires sticking out the inner side of the rear tyre. There is plenty of trend on this tyre...that doesn't make sense.

It is Goodyear tyre that came with Fiat Tipo when I bought this car brand new (2017).

Also I was getting more puncture with Goodyear tyres than I had with previous cars. Also they are quite noisy on poor surface.

Thanks, just e-mailed my local Fiat dealer with my pictures attached.

I have just checked the rest of tyres and found another two tyres are faulty too with some thread remaining. Only on inside wall.

Just got told that they're busy until half-way next week and with my mileage of 33500, it is not covered by warranty.

I read online that factory tyres warranty is only up to tyre manufacturers but I think its not worth taking risk waiting so I'm going to get them replaced ASAP by a local tyre dealer instead.

I wood argue that unless it's stated actually in writing that if it's on the car it's covered,Fiat doesn't drop the mileage for other components, only wear and tear exclusions

Just got tyres replaced with Kumho ones and they are much quieter now.

I read one of the reviews online for Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance tyres which were factory fitted to my car, that they can become very loud after 20K. That made sense to me as they were loud on the motorways and main roads.

The tyre fitter said the marking shows on my tyres that they were made at week 50 of 2016 so they were quite old and he has seen these thin wires sticking out before.

Anyway, 33K is plentiful for these set of tyres so I can't really complain but if the mileage was low then it isn't right.

Interesting thing is that my Tipo's tyre warning indicator was very accurate - it was flashing in the past several days and I checked the tyres over, they were all ok and I thought indicator might be faulty but no, a few days later, one of rear tyre was flat and the other end was deflated half-way! I swapped the flat one with a spare space saver wheel and inflated the other. The other tyre did not deflate at all over 2 days but despite resetting tyre warning, it still comes up flashing! Once all new tyres are fitted, resetted it and did not come back.

By the way, my old Ford Mondeo MK3 Diesel used to eat tyres very quickly in just around 15K, regardless of which brand! I had to replace new front tyres every year just before MOT.

I would agree for cracks and ageing, but that's a manufacturing defect,if you search online there's loads about it.

A tyre manufacturer is not going to warranty a 33k mile tyre with this problem they don’t know that you’ve not been driving it up and down kerbs for the last 2 years, fracturing all the internal wires.

Good luck proving or arguing that after 33k miles this is a manufacturing defect and not just the way the time tyre has been treated.

If the wires are coming out of the inside edge of all the tyres then it could even be a tracking issue

I would have thought after 3 years and 33000 plus mileage you have had your use out of them.....
