Hi guys/girls

Does anybody have any problems with their tipo window regulators..yesterday I had a little problem with tipo easy 1.6 mj saloon I have it from new no problems 20,000 m. I was going into a multistory car park and as I went to put the drivers window up before I got out to go about my business I heard a bit a loud bang and the window wouldn't go up.. so I rang the dealer and took it to them .Great service from them..new regulator ordered..

This happened to me last month. Unfortunately the local dealer, Border Cars of Dumfries had gone out of business without telling me so I had to get the winder mechanism replaced by a local garage at a cost of around £320. My Tipo was still under warranty but as the nearest dealership was 90 miles away in Glasgow I paid for the repair myself. Then I had to have another (the second) drop link replaced, once again under warranty, but at my own expense. I voluntarily terminated the PCP agreement on the Tipoffs and bought a used Panda Pop, so I am now off to the Panda pages.

I will never buy a new car again as all of the promised advantages can disappear like mist on a hot day.

If I were you and still have the receipts for the parts and garage work I would send them to Fiat asking for a refund on a good will basis. You have the added advantage that the Fiat dealer you bought the car from no longer exists and the 90 mile (180) round trip to Glasgow was not possible. A situation not of your making brought about by your Fiat's failures.

Not sure you can call it a fiat failure given dealership's are independent of fiat themselves

It's not your fault that Fiat sold a car via a financially weak dealer.

It's got to be worth a pleasantly worded letter asking to get your money back. As folks have already said, the original dealer would have recharged Fiat for the labour costs and Fiat would have paid for the parts so is there really any difference?

Thanks for all the advice everyone, but I'm 76 this year and have had many battles of this sort over the years. I tend to feel bitter when I lose while being in the right, so didn't bother. Anyway, onwards and upwards, my "new" Panda Pop is wonderful and has averaged 57.9mpg over 1600 miles. It's also my third Panda. Hope FIAT bring out an electric Panda.

The electric Panda Fiat issued as a concept with separate replaceable battery modules to give a range to suit user's needs looks like a great idea.

Devil is of course in the detail. Mainstream manufacturers have consistently under performed in both battery range and performance. In battery and power train terms, none of then are even close to Tesla's Model S from 2012.
