General Ye ye green anyone?

General Ye ye green anyone?

Just taken delivery of YeYe green with tricolore body strips (silly name but great colour). Wanted the retro look and went with salesman's recommendation. Very happy with it. According to trade insider (no, not the salesman!), green is not considered an issue - depends what car. Diesel is also very good - I've done nearly 50k on the same engine in driving school Corsas and nothing went wrong.

Hi guys

I've recently been promoted at work and now have a sizable increase in my monthly budget. I intend paying off the HP finance (Fiat 50 to 500 Plan) in March / April and then upgrading to a Lounge because I want the added features and the car I should've bought in the first place.

I'm more than happy to wait until April / May and see what the 500 Convertible brings but equally happy to have the tin (and glass) top Lounge.

I'm going for the 1.3 MultiJet because I recently drove the Grande Punto MJ and thought it was a superb engine for its size. Great turbo input and tonnes of low down torque.
Thing is I want to get this one right and I can't decide what colour to consider. I desperately missed the boat BIG TIME by not getting Punk Grey as I adored that colour.
Bossa Nova White looks excellent sitting on the Motorshow stands, in the showroom and washed and polished on my drive. Thing is its totally impossible to keep clean and I don't have the time to wash it nearly everyday to keep some evidence of its whiteness.

I'm toying with the idea of Ye Ye Green, may be with the vintage leather, but I am stuck. Has anyone seen the Electroclash Grey in person and if so, how does it compare to Punk Grey?

Any thoughts would be grateful and I know this is purely personal choice, but I appreciate your guys input.

Yes its a great engine and drive ,62-68mpg i get all the time:)
As for colour i like the mod blue but you get what you thinks best itsyours after all (y)good luck.

I've not seen a Mod Blue, but blue - the right one - is my favourite car colour. However, I have seen a green one on the road and it made more of an impression than any other colour the 500 comes in - it was really lovely. A delicate, yet strong, sage green, and certainly one of the best 500 colours. Unmissable, and impossible to dislike.

No car that I know translates so badly from showroom to road as the 500. I'm talking colour here. I adore the Cha Cha in the showroom, but on the road it looks kinda washed out and dull - or is it just me? Sorry Cha-Cha owners, and the white is a bit, er, milky too.... :(

I love the yellow, and the Punk Grey was stunning, but it needed chrome window sills to set it off, and they are only available with the Lounge spec, which I don't like because it has chromey bumpers and a glass roof, and and and .... so much for 500,000,000,000 choices or whatever.

My desired 500 is unavailable

Looks like you might have missed the boat on Ye Ye too, see Scroggs recent post under, "do you have a low absorption colour?"

Excellent!!

I thank the person at Fiat who's pulling the purse strings so tight that almost any aspect of retro-ness is being squeezed out of the car.

I certainly don't want another white 500 for both the cleaning issues I've mentioned and for the fact that no-one who lives where I do can choose any other colour than Bossa Nova white!!

Granted it does look good but I wanted a ye ye green specced car.

This has put me in a mood this evening and I'm well peed off with Fiat!

Check out the Ye Ye 500 at www.italiaspeed.com in the Japan 500 club news item. Modded somewhat and not to everyones taste I'm sure, but I like certain aspects of it. I suppose if the factory can't put a decent number of cars through the paint process in whatever colour then it has to be more expensive for them and has we all know times are incredibly hard right now - at least they are still being made!

Can't find ye ye green in any brochure or website. Where do I find one to look at? How do you order a colour that even FIAT uk don't list?

The answer is you can't (at least not at the moment) unless your lucky and one comes up 2nd hand. I LOVED Punk Grey and YeYe but had to settle for red...

Thanks for that MissR. What a shame it's not available now. I think it really suits the car's retro appeal, as does the punk grey. It's purely subjective I know and for what it's worth I think the unlucky/poor resale value thing is a load of cobblers.
The colour of a car can make all the difference to it's appeal. A nice rich cream similar to the colour VW offer on the Beetle would also be ideal for the 500.
Even cars of no particular appeal to me can be greatly helped by the colour. For example I've seen the new Fiesta in a creamy beige sort of colour (looks better than it sounds) and compared to say silver, it really looks nice. - Incidently, there's no mention of that colour either on the official Ford website!

Not everyone will agree of course, it's whatever floats your boat. Which is as it should be.

Yeah I agree, just because it wasn't over popular doesn't mean they should scrap it. I would have paid more for it (even if it had been as expensive as the Funk White) I even cheekily asked if they would spray my car with Punk Grey or one of the byDiesel colours if I paid them more. They said no though :( ah well no harm in trying.
