but how much will i make froma tribunual:p Ill see if i have any other jobs lined up or not before i start investigating.

I think my colleague is going for legal action. The fact that we get told we are getting Tupe'd over then she gets told the new company has no job for her and she will be made redundant surely isnt legal.:confused:
 
Basically its not a person who becomes redundant, its a position that becomes redundant.

When a position or positions becomes redundant then a pool of people who do a similar job has to be established.

Each member of that pool has to be interviewed, notes taken, and both parties sign the minutes of the meeting as a true record.

The company must then make its decision based on facts and these facts must be notified to you and you colleagues. 'Your face doesn't fit' is not a fact.

If there are any other job vacancies, no matter what they are, they must be offered to you, even if its a part time cleaners job, it still must be offered.

As I said earlier, its unlikely that you will be able to contest a decision to make a position redundant, but you can question the method and score big if they get it wrong.

It doesn't matter f you have found another, even better paying, job.

The redundancy thing is so fraught with difficulties for the employer, and the balance is weighted in favour of the employee, that a lot of companies are using the 'current economic situation; as an excuse to get rid of people/overhaed, and they are not following the rules.

Similar thing happened to my OH, it was all checked through union legal team. The new company had to guarantee existing Ts & Cs for 1 year.
After this, her job was made redundant, a couple of minor things were removed from the role & she was re-offered a new job (same job, different title) with a £5k salary drop.
The minor changes?
She was no longer allowed to decide who did any maintenance work (she used to have a list of reliable workers to call on), under new job, she simply rang a central number.
All utitlity bills went directly to the new company instead of via her for checking and approval - they ended up paying money for work which wasn't done and for gas & electricity that wasn't used (nobody checked the bill against the meter).
All maintenance work (inc gardening) was dealt with by the new company who would call in their own 'experts'

Oh, BTW, if she refused the new job, the company could use this as a way of not paying redundancy - and that was checked out by the legal team as well.
Her hands were tied.

I dont think you have a leg to stand on basically, they have offered you a job at reduced pay and they are within there rights to do so. My advice is to take the job do it part time and spend the rest of the time getting qualified, you can do pretty much all of it online now days.
Then you will have the qualification in computers and everybody needs people to sort out computers. But we have just come to the end of a ridiculous boom so now your going to need to be qualified to make money. ;)
We have all had Ideas that can potentially make millions, infact i would go as far as far as saying i have implemented ideas that will make millions. Dont get all high and mighty over that fact, ideas are the easy bit. Its making those ideas make you millions that you need to figure out, that is a whole different story.
 
well i have been told that i work for the new company as of today.

umm no i dont remember signing anything.:confused:

we both (IT) told them that we dont want to join the new company and they went into panic mode:p

anyway they are basically trying to get as much info out of us as possible which we arent giving by the way. My colleague is getting made redundant but only gets paid if she stays on another month. so they will keep her on for a month just to get info out of her then tell her thats it.

I think i am taking the new job at the moment but will be searching for other jobs as of now:)

well im still alive guys.

new job involves a lot of effort for me to get on to FF.:(

i hated work to start off with then realised its a doddle i am the youngest person there and come top every single day on their call stats :confused: its possibly the easiest work ever.

anyway at the moment i seem to be getting paid about 3-5 thousand pound less than everyone else there:mad: plus i am doing more work than them.

anyway i will be asking for a pay rise on my 3 month review or i will tell them to do one.:)

You do IT from a call centre?, wow that sucks I really feel for ya. I love getting out and about and having a new office pretty much every day. Tomorrow its a Windows Server 2008 install at a school way up north :).

Glad you like it anyway and that its working out for ya (y). The world of IT is f***ed, you either make it or you loose it completely. Ask poor Gaz with an IT degree and he works in tesco :rolleyes: :bang:.

One thing I would recommend is formal training while your young which should guarantee a more prosperous future a bit further down the line. Im currently doing the CCNA stuff and MCSE (all knowledge I know through experience but don't have it on paper although there are a few bits im learning!).

its not all bad. i can get to work in 15 minutes on a good day:) and travel is only te cost of petrol to drive 10 miles a day.

I reckon i will be going back to my old company by then end of the year though.

lol thats the way it goes. In my last position one guy left and came back 3 times :rolleyes: :bang:. In the end I didn't bother locking his user account :eek:.
