was considering Uni but i only did the first year of sixth form(n) but i got told their is a course you can do (6 months) that will make me eligable for Uni.

I was older than you when I got made redundant and did an Access Course, I left school with no significant qualifications. The Access course was a breeze, went to uni, dropped out of uni, went back to uni, graduated and here I am now...... talking to you lot  Where did it all go wrong

I would suggest you find out as much as possible about the new company quickly. If your current company would be using the new company as a supplier, then surely you would be uniquely valuable to the new company as you know how everything works? You could sell the deal to both sides.

they think they can handle it without me/us:ROFLMAO:

what kind of stuff do you do on this course? brief outline would be nice.

It often depends on what kind of uni course you want to do. I originally was going to do a business studies degree so I did stuff like Statistics, People Management, Civil Liberties and British History at the equivalent of A-level on the Access Course. Also did a module in IT to catch up with all you youngsters :p, and a project. It was basically a full time course, about 20 hours in the classroom each week and the same again in the library and doing assignments. It was really good fun, made some really good friends and never looked back. If you have the time and the finance give it some serious thought, I reckon about 50% of the people on the course dropped out so you have to make a decision and stick with it.

Option 1 or 3.

I'm in a gap year before uni this year to work in IT\Web Design. I've seen a lot of people getting the boot and made redundant, really tough atm. If you're keen to get a bit further i'd take the access course.

Like people said, look into this new company a bit more though.

I am very glad to hear that it worked out well for you.
Civil Liberties as a pre-cursor to a business studies course ?
Was it useful?

As it turned out civil liberties was very useful, I dropped out of my business studies degree in the first year, didn't like it, went to a different uni and did law instead. Really liked it, quite demanding, I never wanted to be a solicitor or barrister but got a good degree anyway.

The job centre is onto us.

take option 1. they cant punish you for it so any job loss would have occured either way.

i have a job interview tomorrow. its my first interview since i lost my job at xmas so fingers tightly crossed.

is that through lack of looking or are pickings really that slim?
i applied for 30 jobs before i got an interview. i couldnt try any harder- i search every day and apply for anything suitable within a 30mile radius. compared to 2006 there are far fewer vacancies. (n)
