Technical Woj's turbo project

Hi! I like your car and project. :)

Thanks (y) I like it too :D

Where did you buyed the decompression plate and what are their prices?

A guy back in Poland makes them "somehow". Prices are cheap (very) compared to for example Farriday Engineering and similar, 20-ish Euro per one or even less. Only thing is that these plates sometimes need slight delicate manual post processing on the edges. Also, he is very reliable, but delivery times can wary quite a bit depending on his work load. I am not going to give you any contact, but if you want I can ask if he is willing to help (y)

What throttle body assembly are you using? Standard Punto 75?

Yes. It's from Palio Weekend 75, but they are the same.

The Cinquecento 900 bob fits directly on it?

The bob itself does. The rubber seal was bit tweaky. I did not buy one for 900 bob, so I had to muscle a bit my old one from the SPI engine.

Good, photos photos photos, I like them too :D

Yep, I would like to get a plate if the price is that. Shipping to Italy is possible? Any idea about the price?

Also, a "stupid" question :D Y ou are polish living in uk, or english living in poland or something like that?

I'm Lithuanian, but live in Italy :D

Price I estimated above, didn't I? I will try to remember to ask the guy and contact you perhaps.

Polish living in NL. At the moment :D :D

Hey Woj,

I was looking at your exhaust.
About 5" i gues?

They look like prefab pieces that are welded together.
For my exhaust I was planning to get parts from www.nltuning.nl
Were did you get them, and more important what did it cost?

Also were did you get the flang fabricated?
First it was a plat piece of metal with a hole.
Later an extra piece welded onto it to give the wastegate more space?

You mean 2" :D

Yes, I used prefabricated pieces like from the website you posted. But mine are from Jetex. You can buy them at a very reliable store in UK at:

https://www.jetex.co.uk/jetex/store/

Or in NL from:

http://www.stroevemotorsport.nl/

I have certain personal subjective reservations for this NL shop (delivery times and UPS sending), but in principle they should have all what's needed to make your own exhaust (not sure about catalytic converters).

Also were did you get the flang fabricated?

Apart from the welding, the flange I did myself using very simple drilling equipment and an angle grinder for cutting, also Dremel and hand saw. A bit of fiddly work, getting the holes in the right places was a bit tricky. And yes, there was a correction made later on, I had to cut out the middle of the flange out and weld on a piece on top of it to make space for the wastegate valve.

Are the Palio bob all the same on the Palio engines or only the Palio 75 bob is good to be used on the Punto 75 throttle body?

You use the 1.1 stanadard exhaust manifold "just" adapted for the turbo , right? It seems much longer than mine on my 1242 Punto 75.

Correct. The length I guess depends on where it was cut to weld the flange on...

I was thinking about the leght before cutting a welding. Never had a 1.1 manifold and never saw in real, but by looking at the photos it looks longer that mine 75s. Will try to get them measured.

How many kilometers did you already made with your setup by now?

First almost serious problem strictly turbo related appeared :D Nothing that cannot be fixed easily, the WG opening is very sticky. It does not open, so I have excessive boost, when I forced it to open with a foot pump, it got stuck open and no boost at all (well, 0.2 bar if I tried really hard). A nice side effect is that I now know that I can boost considerably more than 0.8 bar without problems (have been driving like this for some weeks now, only today I could be bothered to check what is wrong). And it makes a huge difference power wise.

The car is now at 32kkm after conversion, not a bad result for something to finally happen I'd say ;)

my old cinq overboosted (for a completely unrelated reason) to 1.3-1.4 bar and was fine. It was set at 1.3 once fixed and ran no issues for ages. And yes, hugely fast compared to 0.8 bar!

PS> the shell died on that car not the engine, that was still running tip top when it was broken up

Yes, my shell is also on the way out and will most certainly be outlived by the engine

Well mate, that really depends on so many factors. When/how the shell will eventally give in, whether I will be living in a different place (my current housing situation prevents me from doing anything major), etc. etc. I also think about a totally different project based on a different car. As much as I love my cinq I had it with the lack of space under the bonnet :bang: Will see (y)
