Hi
I built my desktop pc about 4 months ago as a few of you may remember. Iv got a bit of spare money at the moment so I want a wireless PCI card.
Now the most important thing is one with good range as my PC is quite far away from the wireless router. Could anyone recommend a good quality wireless PCI card?

thanks

this is the best one i could find

I'm recommend going down the usb route as you are a distance from the access point. Being usb will allow you to move the adaptor about to get the best signal strength.

Linksys or Netgear get my vote - have had various driver issues with Belkin adaptors in the past.

I would agree with USB for being able to move it for best signal, also it is not sitting so close to the massive lump of metal that is a PC - not so good for signal!

Never had any trouble with Netgear USB ones, they seem to have pretty good range too. Of course, can't beat a length of Cat5e cable through the wall! :p

Also if you can position the wireless access point higher, as you will get better signal. If the signal is a big problem, upgrade the router to a N router and get the card to match, think the range on the N is around 100 meters or so depending on medium that it has to travel through.

That is very powerful! I remember a whole day in a room with a few 100mA power level masts, and we all came out with headaches. (CCNA 3 Wireless module at Uni)

I would possibly try the play one, range might not be brilliant though. A usb moveable mast could be good, get a nice USB extending cord as well and u can have it a fair distance from the PC
