2006 1.2 rear brake light problem.

turn on the lights and i get four lights turn on, i assume that is how it should be?

with no lights on.

press my foot on the brake pedal and only the right hand brake light goes on, there is no power to either the left brake light or the high line brake light (i have seen that the left brake light and high line light are connected) bulb is fine as it works in the right hand side, new bulbs fitted anyway just to be safe.

with side lights on

same as above.

i also note that the boot light isn't coming on either and no power to it? connected problem?

any advice would be appreciated please.

thanks Tony

Check the flexi cable in rubber boot for tailgate..

Wires dont like being bent.. they can fracture

yes you were right, washer pipe had snapped as had the wire for the high level light.

so now i have a right hand brake light, high level brake light but no left hand brake light.

i have traced the green ith white wire back in the loom as far as i can and now i have an intermitant problem, some times i get power along the wire other times nothing?

unfortunatley my battery has now gone dead so it's on charge, oh well time for a cup of tea.

i will be posting a lot of photos of the car later it is filthy dirty on the outside and inside, purely for comparison as it is being given a full premium wash and detail tomorrow.

ok, that's it, i have given up, some times power to rear left brake light, other times non, tried to bridge it from the right brake light and while that works i still have the message on the dash saying check stop lights so i MUST get the left hand wiring working, to stop the message.

anyone got any ideas please before i book it into an auto electrician and pay through the nose?

Are all other LH units bulbs ok..

That should rule out an earth issue

What are you varying to make: break the LH lamp in question

I usually trigger the hazards when checking all bulbs .. helps highlight dodgy connections ;)

yes, the indicator works as it should, the side lights work as they should.
i disconnected the earths, cleaned them all up and reconnected them so the earths are fine.
i have traced the white and green wire from the light unit all the way back as far as i can and using a multimeter very very occasionally i will get a reading but more often than not no reading at all.

it's booked in on Monday with the local auto electricians to be sorted, i just cant work it out.
