well, just gone and scraped the snow of my bravo only to find that the front wipers and washers no longer work....arrrrghhhhh

The washer wasn't working the other day, i thought it had run out of juice but the tank is full, and now the wipers don't work either!
its not the fuse, cos i've checked it and anyway the rear wiper works. And it can't be frozen cos its above zero. All the connections i can find seem ok.

I'm worried i might have bust something, cos i started the engine before clearing the snow, and i think the wipers were switched on but unable to move cos of the ice and snow....maybe i've burnt something out, but surely the fuse should go first?

Any ideas before i take it to the garage to empty my wallet again?

Re: wiper problem too!

Well, the green flag dude came out this afternoon, he saw exactly what i did - that the fuse is fine.

So he reckoned i've seized or burnt out the motor... So thats a ton for a new motor and probably the same again for labour, although I'm tempted to do it myself. I just hope it is the motor and not some kind of wiring or relay problem too. The wiring diagram in Haynes seems to indicate that all the circuitry for the motor is enclosed in the motor housing itself, so it should be a straight-forward replacement.

I reckon i could have sat thinking for a week and not been able to come up with an easier way to waste £200 for absolutley no good reason. ah well. I was enjoying the snow until i was stupid enough to let my wipers wrestle with it.

Re: wiper problem too!

its nowt like £100 for the labour on a wiper motor. its £97 for an original motor from fiat, and an hours labour to fit, though in truth it probably doesn't even take them that long.

Re: wiper problem too!

its really easy to replace the wiper motor, remove the scuttle panel from just below the windscreen and its all there, if i remember its just 3 bolts holding the assy in then 3 bolts to separate the motor from the linkage.
