Im finding that in the local area the main roads are good
The side streets aint, and again putting socks on everytime, it would get very very annoying

I'm sticking to winters too!

Same here. If I'm honest I'd probably consider chains on winters rather than snow socks if it was REALLY bad. I should have probably put an option in the poll for chains/socks.

Either way it's interesting to see that 70% of people would consider winter tyres or already own them. When I first got my winter tyres it was somewhat of a joke with people in the 500 section!

Chains cannot be used on cleared roads at all, socks can be used at speeds of up to 30mph on no snow at all, so you can use them as long as you aren't planning any long motorway trips, if you don't drive like a spanner obviously. Tbf I only use mine when there is a full covering of snow on the road...or I'm stuck otherwise I just take due care.

So I went from my road which was terrible - in 300 yards it was better - and 1/2 mile later it was a clear A45 / M1 ...

... why would snow socks help? Sod that, for me personally, winter tyres. Yet I know if I had remained on my summer F1s [with 24 years of driving experience] I would have struggled to get out of my road

Still, others know better and know all of the roads I drive on. Personally, winters suit me :)

I hate to say this the landy was all over the place in gear and no revs on winters when we had few inches of snow back in Jan. I think a lot really does come down to the road the overall weather conditions and if it's already been driven on.... Round the town here was a complete nightmare, the camber of the road kept my landy sliding sideways, the roads had been very heavily gritted but it was cold enough that everything was re-freezing. Out of town on the untreated roads then the landy on winters was awesome!

A few winters back when I lived in South Wales (end of 2010 I think it was) when the roads weren't gritted at all, everyone seemed to complain about it, but I found it a lot easier to get about in the snow with winters on the landy, and I have to say of the 6 cars I had access to at the time, other than landy were all on budget tyres.

well, a Land Rover is heavy, i had to turn my Panda around on a hill and due to how light it was, it was fairly easy to turn around on a 1 in 3 hill.

Since in thoery we should be coming out of winter and into spring

Winters aren't far from coming off
So how do you store them?
Currently i just stack them up in the shed

Do you keep air in them? let them down?
Coat them with anything?

Except a damn good clean ebfore they go away, what else should you do?

Is anybody coming off there winter tyres yet?
I've looked at the weather for my region and its still hitting -4's at night and only a measly glance of 1hour of 12degs

So im tempted to keep my winters on, but how much longer for?

Ziggy
Tbh there shouldn't be any snow from now on so you're OK to swap across any time really :)
