Technical Wing Mirror Problems

Hi all,

I've got a 01 1.9 JTD Multi and it's not behaving :bang: problem is the folding wing mirrors. The N/S won't fold in or out although I can hear the motor turning, although the mirror operation works fine! Now whilst the N/S motor is turning the O/S won't work. If I unplug the N/S mirror and then re attach the plug the motor stops (N/S) and the O/S will fold. Switch the ignition on then off and the O/S motor starts running again doing nowt and the O/S wont fold. The only thing I can think of is that there a relay sticking some where? but where I don't know, or is it just because it's Italian and it's trying to send me round the bend! Any ideas anyone I'm desperate!!!!!! Would really appreciate a wiring diagram if anyone has one.

I had this same problem only last night. Its been like this for months now, i never use the folding function as one may fold in, or one may fold in and stop halfway through and never work again for days at a time. What i did was take the mirror off, take the glass panels off to open to casing and remove the "black box" from inside which all the connectors were rusted. and just connected the 2 other cables together, removing the black box for good. Now my mirrors work perfectly although the main panel of glass has a line running down it as it was a nightmare to prise off, still £12 for some new glass is better than £120 for new mirrors! check out the fiat forum guides on how to remove the mirrors

sounds like the ecu sensor has come out of sync with the mirror,it does this if the mirrors get knocked or dont get lubricated.To reset switch ignition on then hold switch one way for 30 seconds then the other way for 30 secs this allows the ecu to locate the mirrors.same for sunroofs.hope this helps

I am going to give this beauty a try :idea: lol, i always und up arguing with my wing flaps especially after rain!
