Windows 7 installer

So im trying to reinstall windows 7 on my housemates laptop, first i tried with a usb key and the installer run really slow and i mean really slow took over half an hour just on the setup is starting screen.

I left it for a long time and it was nearly finished unpacking all the files when it gave me an error some files are missing

so i tried again but this time with a dvd and now it wont even get past the setup is starting screen

anyone got any ideas?

its an acer aspire 5742Z

laptop HDD is goosed? What prompted the reinstall?

got stuck in a boot cycle

went to that windows repair thing it does but that never did anything just had a never ending green bar, couldn't boot in to safe mode or anything

i managed to format the partition with the windows installer the first time but the install failed

Same laptop as mine.

RAM/HDD? Use Hirens to test RAM and seagate seatools for the HDD.

CD knackered? Burn another from a good ISO - http://techdows.com/2011/07/downloa...h-sp1-iso-official-direct-download-links.html

my next step is hirens but atm the install has got further then usual its just taking a long time

im using the ISO from that site

got all the way to configuring install and it told me the ISO was corrupt, how i dont know personally im not sure it was

run memtest that was fine now doing a hard drive scan see if that gives me anything

is there any new bios i can update to any one know?

Check out the Acer website, see what the latest version - and compare it to the current BIOS version.

Once you have the file, you should be able to update via BIOS accordingly.

Laptop harddrive is caput, try some repair software but I doubt it will work. Harddrive needs replacing ..

tried everything i can and its still not working

putting it down to the hard drive
