Technical window wipers broke! (not wiping)

hey
i need help fixing my window wipers, the passengers completly does not work and i can move it freely, and the drivers works but sometimes gets stuck and wont move at all! but when it does decide to work it makes a big knocking noise whenever it does wipe!
any help on how to fix it e.g what i need to remove to get to the motor etc and what could be unattached, and needs sorting to stop it sticking

Hey Chris,
checkout the above links from yellow Peril and sixpotman, I wrote the guide mentioned recently after discovering the wipex kit online. However you can bastardise the broken linkage to fix it but the above are better solutions imo.

cheers for the info and i think i will use your guide! my car has only done 40000miles so shud it be worn or jus somehow slipped off?

I wouldn't have thought it would slip off unless it's worn but have a look at it. One of the legends on here Deckchair5 had a technique of wrapping the balljoint with a cable tie to keep it in place but whether this would last for a long while i'm not sure. There are pics of how he did it on older threads.
