if it looks gud then it wont 6 months down the line

What makes you so sure? especially if you have as you say never tried to do it!
as ive said before,
if it can be done by one man who has two arms and two legs (like the rest of us, usually) then it can be done by another.,, all professionals make things look or sound difficult, so it puts you off doin it yourself and thus paying them to do it.,.,

no offence but if you've never tried it then you cant really have a valid oppinion on it can you, its just that you seem so negitive against it and that doesnt really make sence if you've never tried it.,.,,.,

have had a few cars done by Phil at SC Tints. Great fella, PROPER pro job, and lots of shades to choose from. Don't do it yourself, it looks cheap.

I want to get mine tinted (Car not bedroom... :yum: Very Original)

Yet i have a mind that cannot seem to make a desicision... As my punto is the "dooWop Turquoise" i dont know quite what to go with to tint windows... not sure whether black would look so good on it or nor (personal preferance)

Any ideas?

Ps. Sorry for jumping in your thread, i thought i would post it here as i thought it would be better than having another window tint thread...

black is always a safe bet as it goes with any colour, styles change so aften that if you go for an odd colour then it might look crap after a while.

do all your rear windows really dark and some mediums on the front and it'll look great.,.,

exactly m8.

well the reason why u should have it done professionally is coz its done properly and done in a proper room where no dust will collect and at a gud temperature and mostly its baked on. now plz tell me by doin it yourself will be as gud, dnt think so bruv

The O/P has now had two opinions with both displaying the pros and cons of each method. It should now be left to the O/P to make up their own mind about the method they choose.

If they choose the pro method, fine, if they choose the homemade method fine.

Theres no point harping on about it, nor creating arguements the evidence is there for both and that should be that

I agree with ya "applesei".,.,.,
i dont wanna start an arguement or anything its just that i do window tinting a lot and in previous threads ive given tips on what to do about keeping the dust away, like throwing down some water or using a hoover to suck in the dust before ya start.,., obviously you wouldnt be doin it outside.,., and about the "baking it on" ive never seen a tinting place that did that., they just use a heat gun to make the tint soften a bit so it can fit the shape of the window.,., i worked at this for a while so i know what im talking about.,., I now work in crash repairs/auto electrics.,.. i have full access to a low bake oven if i wanted to use it but i wouldnt reccomend it as it drys the soapy mark into the tint and you have to work all the soap out of the tint with a squeegee.,., now id LOVE to see you try to do that in a baking booth.,., do ya have any idea how hot it gets in there, ya cant even breath in it.,.,.,

i have to agree with vtec,

i've had a few windows tinted and seen a few done. when my mates saab was done (95 estate) it looked like a pig to do but the guy said it was a piece of piiss. he even showed how to put it on. he said just make sure you do it in warmish weather, low dust ie in the garage with the door down, use a heat gun and take your time.

however not everyone has access to the facilities and thats often why you go pro. there are the aesthetic and security reasons for tinting which can often sway where you go but i'd say of your a dab hand got access to a heatgun of high wattage hairdryer some time and a 'dust' free area then do it yourself and save your self money on labour.

and to beau - got my bedroom windows tinted in mirror chrome - mainly for privcay as it has £1000's worth of computer, guitars, fx processors and amps and its a downstairs bedroom at uni - great at reducing heat in the summer as well as stopping prying eyes!

to the person with the turqoise paint, it may be worth going into a tint place so they can show you a range of tints that might go - doubt you will be at obligation to buy so you can always go source the tint from somewhere else if you want to do it yourself.

post pics when you've had it done - good luck!

nice one "raptor".,., it nice to see theres still people that understand the whole point of having a forum, so you can do things "YOURSELF", NOT pay other people to do it for ya.,.,

expencive equipment my A*S, LOL.,., we know why ya tinted them!!!
Dirty Animal,.,.,.lol

I shall look around, thank you (y) i will post some pics when i have finally made up my mind. Lol, :yum:

i dnt fukin mean put it in the oven u cocky fuker.

how else are you going to bake it on if you dont put it in the oven, unless your talking about using a head gun to dry it out which is NOT baking it on, and if this is what you mean then why would you say "baked on" instead of just saying use a heat gun, unless you are intentionally trying to make it sound more complicated than it really is.,

dont blame me for you not having a clue what your talking about, and probibly just quoting something you read somewhere, or heard from the guy who tinted your windows while he was making you wallet lighter for ya.,.,

dont get me wrong people, the pro's obviously do a good job, but this forum tells people how to change their timing belts, headgaskets, wire alarms/stereo's, change clutches etc (all jobs that would have way more expencive consequences if done wrong) and your advising people against basically putting sticky plastic on their windows.,. cop on mate,,, tinting film is cheap! if ya make a balls of it on the first window, then you only lost a tenner or something, if it goes well for ya then tint the rest.,., Simple!

lol, you oviously aint got a clue have you really. everything in this whole thread that you have wrote is the fact that you have brought a tinting kit off ebay and you read the instructions and now you are sharing the instructions with us, well done m8, hats off to you, YOU CAN READ AND COPY

you have brought a tinting kit off ebay
and just for your information, ,i only use defender film and i get it from the likes of halfords of other car accessories shops.,.,(see pic at the bottom)
so surely its time for you to accept the fact that im right and drop the whole ego thing.,,

you so full of sh*t and obviously only looking to argue with me.,

And to everyone else, apoligies for going way off topic. im only trying to to help people and save them money. ever since joining FF my aim is to help people with problems that i specialize in (Auto electrics and bodywork) and am only too happy to help, where as all this muppet wants to do is convince himself he's a real man by contradicting me about something that he has admitted he has "NEVER" did.
now im awaiting the proof that i copied everything i said from "the "instructions from the ebay kits"., which he obviously wouldnt know because as he said he has never tried to tint windows so would have no reason to have bought a tinting kit from ebay.,,
he paid £220 to have his own windows tinted.,.,
like i said, full of **** mate!
