Styling Window tinting - DIY

Hi,

I’m thinking of tinting the back windows and rear doors – (2006 – High Roof); I’d like to find a supplier of good quality materials and have a go at doing it myself.

Has anyone else done diy tinting successfully to their Doblo? Any tips?

Where’s the best place to get good quality materials that won’t degrade too quickly?

Don't know where in the world you are, but I have thrice asked Mr Tint of Alexandra Parade, Dennistoun, Glasgow, to tint the rear windows of my high-roof Doblos with 100% success and satisfaction. It's 2 or 3 years since they were done and they still look as good as new. Cost was £150 (or £180 including the 4 narrow high top windows). I believe they used 3M "limo tint". Try ebay or Google if you want to find the materials and DIY.

Of course, 3M – it’s bound to be OK quality from them – Cheers.

Unfortunately I don’t know of anyone local who does this sort of thing – besides, I quite like the idea of having a go at it myself and if I mess it up then I’ll take the rap!

Don't know if you've done a search on here, but DIY tinting generally comes out looking like crap, that's the bottom line. I've never come across a really good DIY job.

Apart from anything else you really need an indoor clean windless environment. In all honesty get it done professionally. If you do decide to give it a go, please post up how you got on.

Tinting is quite popular around here. Not sure if they are DiY or pro but there are loads of rear window tints that look appalling - the film is all wrinkled and crinkly - I'm guessing the sun is damaging it as the effect reminds me of when I used to make badges by putting plastics in the oven.
