We just collected our 04 Stilo today. Very happy, but I noticed that when I activate the water to clean the front windscreen, the water shoots out, but the wipers dont start wiping. Am I doing something obviously wrong, or is it a problem? Wipers seem ok otherwise and rear window clean works ok, and there the wiper start wiping when the water squirts out.

Apart from that it's great to finally own the car :)

Fiat dealer was a bit crap though, in that he said the warrantee transfer was free and that we just had to fill out a form, but reading the details it turns out it says you got to pay 20 something quid to do it. Also he said the car had 3 years manufacturers warrantee, but after reading the booklet this 3rd year warrantee isnt really manufacturers, so a bit annoyed he mislead us on that.

Keep the washers spraying on the windscreen and after a few seconds to get the screen nice and wet the wipers should start.

Hi

Yes, you are right - the first two years are manufacturers and the third year is dealership warranty - which is slightly less friendly when it comes to claiming things [it covers the major issues, though] -

I paid £20+VAT to change mine over from the previous owner.

Just noticed recently that I am not getting any water through my REAR nozzles?! Is this a blockage or a pump problem or a tube that has come loose - I will have a look over the weekend and see if I can localise it.

On my Punto I was able to squirt a little bit of water onto the windscreen without the wipers then doing their 3 strokes. Any more than the little squirt and they went for it. I have driven a couple of Stilo's but didn't try that. Perhaps holding it for a bit longer will reveal if the wipers go or not. I'd suspect it's a firmware or on-board computer configuration issue if the wipers never stroke after a normal length wash...

Stu

Sometimes the connection for the pump bottle can work loose so front wont work, dont know if theres a separate pump for rear. Mine did that for the fronts.

It is possible to spray the screen without the wipers going in a Stilo, I do it all the time. The problem I have is one side will start spraying either 2 jets or none. Thats really annoying that as it always seems clear

Sometimes I find that if I've got the rain-sensitive wiper mode activated and then use the screen washer, the wipers don't wipe and need the rain-sensitive mode turning off temporarily. Had that on my previous Abarth, too.

Same on mummie's dynamic, used to irritate me a bit. Also, sometimes had an issue of the wipers starting a stroke then stopping. Both were solved with a new rain sensor + replacement body computer (indicators click louder now too!)

Ah, I am glad you said that - I hadn't really noticed this before, so tried yesterday with a squirt, and wipers not activated - must have been the setting they were on.

I dont have the rain sensor, but my problem was the length of time, as some of you said. Oddly though, the time I now have to wait for them to wipe seems to have gone down.

But we are enjoying the car, did 500 miles to Wales and back this weekend :D
