Why so much ford hate?

Why so much ford hate?

yes they do. aluminium oxcide is white not orange but it is still an oxcide (rust). have you ever seen wheels with bubbles? just look at alfa teledial alloys for a prime example of rust. almost all of them have rust bubbles by 7 years old.

Or look at any ford alloy with a special finish such as chrome on it, they rust within 3 years drives my dad insane as his car is otherwise immaculate, however he is having severe difficulty finding anything to replace his focus 2 with that isn't A less capable or B much more expensive or C to bloody big.

yeah that is one fugly car, but its still better looking than a 500.

and as you would expect from ford, it handles better too:

"But, on balance, Ford has worked its magic on the chassis. The addition of a rear anti-roll bar, the stiffening of the front one and various suspension bushes together with recalibration of the electric power steering give the Ka the sort of incisive turn-in and cheeky steering response that the Fiat has always looked like it would offer, but never delivered."

One has to assume you haven't driven one recently.

Yeh I learnt in the old shape petrol focus, new shape petrol focus and diesel new shape focus in my opinion I get more fun out of my Panda. Thats my opinion though, we wont all agree on one thing

because they pay the press... as do most others.. to rater there cars so highly unlike fiat

not a lot of magazines realise that the focus has rather uncomfy seats for certain people... there is no clutch rest, and that the handbrake is on the wrong side... also they rust like i dont know what

I dont like Fords as I hate the styling, however I actually quite like the new Ka, its not better or worse than a 500 on which its based, just different. However, anyone who says its better looking than a 500 is insane!
And yes, Ive actually seen them and sat in them in Paris, the quality is no better than the Panda or 500. I think you may find the suspension is pretty much the same as the Abarth 500 too. Whatever it is, as its made by Fiat it wont rust as fast as Fords.

Theres some pretty harsh stuff being said about Fiat on one of the Ka forums... they dont like the fact that their new car is 80% Fiat at all.

why? mondeo is better in every possible way. laguna is down there with the vectra and c5 and 407. the mondeo is in the "upper non-exec" sector with passat, clearly a class above laguna.

because comparing a bottom spec mondeo with an upper spec laguna ... the lagunas a bit easier on the motorway and has inbuilt sat nav... its also faster haha :D

dont think any of you will agree but, i love fords, but love fiats more. i grew up with fords, rs escorts, banger racin granada's. sierra cosworth. mk1 lotus cortina mk 2 cortinas, and got a 1934 ford coupe hot rod.

there's a discussion on it in the Panda section. but :yuck: a better colour might of helped but it's not good looking.

Interesting article, and completely repeats what Auto Express said last week and the Sunday Times said at the weekend, Ford have totally transformed the way the car steers, rides and handles, but both those publications said that when it comes to looks and packaging the 500 had it beaten and in this segment of the market it's looks that often sell cars above driver rewards.

The question then needs to be asked, when will someone start to sell Ford dampers/springs and anti-roll bars plus offer remapping of the electric steering (it is mappable as how do you think it changes when sport button pressed, two maps:))to make the 500 drive as good as the KA

i stand corrected

wrong. the focus is a cracking car, better than the Stilo or Bravo ;)

Ford will sell more of these than the 500. People will buy a Ford over a Fiat...
People wont buy Ford suspension etc parts for their 500, and Fiat just cant tune a chassis like Ford unfortunately.

I personally think the Ka looks better than a 500- i like the front and side of the 500 but the back is fugly, Ford looks good from all angles- although not so much in the ghastly green in the link. ST Ka anyone?

and that the handbrake is on the wrong side... also they rust like i dont know what

handbrake is in same place it was in my cento and mine is 6 yrs old and no rust

top gear mag slated the new KA as well gave it 10/20, they said the 500 was a much better buy out of two

all the original ka magic is lost in the new model apparently, but people wont care about that and the ka will sell
