Why so much ford hate?

Why so much ford hate?

Ask T14086 the fiat tech he will tell you their crap along with the focus he had..:D

spent many years at Ford so I know the 'workings' quite well. What gets me is how people moan about Fiats & customer relations etc here yet Ford was so much worse...infact thats the reason I came to Fiat and I dont regret it one bit.

As for the cars, yeah they are good (all companies make a few bad ones at some stage in their history) but I feel too many people buy them without trying out something else but a few years back (pre-focus) they had a rubbish line-up of models that were out of date, the focus basically saved them.

you always get the performance ford anorak too, going on and on about the "YB" and the "RS" and the this did that with the other, failing to mention these cars with the halo effect, account for a miniscule proportion of the absolute dross that the blue oval churns out, the focus could well have been a soggy cardboard box on donut wheels, it still would have been better that the total disaster that was the escort5, i remember being at the motor show when it came out, the huge ford stand was almost empty, with the crowd diverting round laughing as they went.

Overated. RUSTY cars. i've seen Focus', Ka etc with more rust than my old tipo from 1992,a design from the 80's!, you would of thought they'd of tempted galvinisation sometime. The interiors are also pretty crap, a 1994 ford fiesta has the same interior as a Ford Probe V6. modern ones aren't much better.

My Dad has a Ford Focus 2 ghia, and has had it since march '05 it's been very good which is just as well as when it does go near a dealer the experience is awful. However with a 1.6vvt under the bonnet its quick enough, quiet, rides and handles very well more than enough toys and does 38-40mpg. Only problems he's had are white rust on the wheels and he broke off an armrest between the front seats. Also Ex has a KA and thats been much more reliable than any fiat I've owned despite being a similar age.

Boring interiors, boring drive and everyone has one need I say more?

boring drive
Totally disagree with that. Nobody knows more about making a FWD car handle well than Ford.

The set the benchmark in the C and D segment with the Focus and Mondeo and so far nobody has come close to matching them. Their Control Blade rear suspension is so good that VW even copied the MkI Focus for the MkV Golf.

My dad has a 2007 Focus Sport 1.8, Mum has a 2007 Fiesta Zetec 1.4 and my sister has a 2008 Ka Zetec 1.3. I used to have a 2004 SportKa 1.6.

I must say the Ka's are flawless and my SportKa was so much fun to drive. I really couldnt fault it. But my mum & dads cars have been absolutely terrible. After being to the garage 6 times with the Focus, Ford finally admitted that there was a fault with the computer, gearbox and radio, which they have finally fixed after almost 2 years. And the Fiesta will not go into reverse unless you put in into third first. Yet when its taken to the garage, they insist that nothing is wrong. So that one is ongoing....

So when I sold my SportKa, I thought I would look elsewhere for a car, as the customer service is terrible, and there were no Fords that I was really keen on. So I ordered a Grande Punto T-Jet 120 (Series 2) in Ambient White. It was delivered to the garage last wednesday and I will be picking it up sometime next week. :D

i like ford. always have. one day i hope to own a series1 rs turbo. i shall lick it clean every day.

for me,i grew up when the Sierra was new and they made a load of gash Escorts so ive got a prejudice
wouldnt stop me buying one nowadays (probably)

stfu that was the golden age!

Hmm dunno how people can think Ka are flawless. There isn't exactly much to a Ka, they're pretty much the most basic car I've ever seen and their appetite for turning into rust is unstoppable. Most Ka I see have rust either around the filler cap, around the wheel arches or along the doors.

I had a courtesy focus 1.8 vtec when my Ibiza was written off. Nice enough car but just didn't give me the buzz that I'd had with my previous ibiza and tipo.

Mondeo can't be that good - rear subframes anyone?

but I feel too many people buy them without trying out something else

totally agree. think this also counts for why so many people in the uk buy corsas, because they simply don't KNOW anything else exists!
the few that do go and try what else is worthy in the sector ditch ford, ditch vauxhal, and buy suzuki swifts!

mk1 focus, and mondeos have always set a benchmark for fwd handlng, that nobody can contest. They are pretty bleak to drive, the dealers are even less helpful (IMO) than fiat dealers (who have HAD to make an effort to improve).

One of the best cars I owned was a P-Reg Mondeo 2 litre Ghia X - it got totally battered and abused on the motorways, and was pretty faultless, although there were a few electrical niggles. The Zetec engine was amazing...

I ended up giving it away to my gardener, with like 140k miles on the clock...

I have a focus.

It is 6 years old and sits outside, it isnt garaged.

There is no rust on it anywhere, wheels, rear arches etc

No leaks, smoking from exhaust etc

It has never broken down.

It has FSH and the only thing its ever needed that wasnt part of the service was a tyre

My previous car was a Mondeo

It was 10 years old

It had done 100k+

It didnt leak or smoke and never broke down

It lived outside and was never garaged

All it needed was service items and had a FSH

Surface rust had only just started to show admittidly

Dealers for both cars the service has been first class

I cant fault my ford experience (although have given it the kiss of death)

I agree....although I still have never driven a Vauxhall Corsa while having tried nearly everything else in same bracket....but I did drive a GP so two birds with one stone :p
