So it under went some surgery:
and ended up needing this:
Yep, another box. the snapped shaft was caused by the pinion gear dropping into the box and snapping into the diff, snapping the most resistive side which happend to be the drivers side. id say its because its longer than teh other side, ergo a little bit more easy to snap (moments about a point or whatever
) havea look - heres the diff, naff pic i know, i moved but you can see all the teeth are rounded over and most behind that were sheared off completely:
The magnet in the side casing of the box was full of debris and shards. There was way more inside:
Anyway its fixed now and cost me £80 to doso, thats for s/h driveshaft with box that had done 37,000 miles guaranteed.
