General why are my dials different to everyones??

As you gave my dials as an example. When we bout the uno in 97 they were making them only in poland and that's the only model that was available. the dial on the right only starts blinking or something like that when the engine is over heated. :D

Hmm. In the Fiat handbook for the mk1, some models were supposedly fitted with a similar layout - no temperature gauge and just a temperature warning light.

However, I've never seen a UK Mk1 Uno with this dash layout, including the ultra basic Formula.

Looks like Fiat also fitted a basic version to the mk2, but again I've never seen one in the UK.

My mk1 has the SX instruments fitted, and I also fitted the Econometer from the 'S' dashboard. Here's a pic of what it looks like:

Hmm that reminds me

The MK1 dash has a button you press to test the brake fluid reservoir warning light is working. The indicator warns of low brake fluid if I recall.

My MK2 also has wires attached to the reservoir cap, but nothing happens when you disconnect the wire, where on the MK1 the warning lamp lights.

Wonder if FIAT forgot to fit the low brake fluid indicator to the MK2 dash  or have both mine been faulty?

I think my mk1 has the button on the instruments to test the light, and also a rubber bit on top of the brake reservoir cap that can also be pressed to check as well. Can't say for sure as my Uno is still down in Gatwick and I'm in Scrotford/ Watford!

Louie, the light might come on if you connect the circuit rather than disconnecting. Try connecting a piece of wire to the two plugs that go into the reservoir cap. That might work.

What a hand to go collect it?

Very kind of you to offer TS86! The reason my Uno is down in Gatwick is that my friend who lives down there has given me his Honda Prelude to work on. So a few weeks ago I drove down and left my Uno there and came back by Honda instead. I finally drive back down to return the Honda this coming Sunday evening, which is a big bummer as I won't have my Uno back in time for Stanford :-(

Thanks for the offer though!

Oh yer – Sorry I’m late

Checked out the low brake fluid warning sensor.

Don’t do anything with the wire removed, but with the handbrake off, the brake warning lamp stays lit if the level falls too low, or if the cap is not replaced :)

Louie, take a photo of the warning light please.

Either I don't have this sensor, or someone's removed it and did some messing about.

'cos... when I bought the car it should have gone off, as I later found the master cylinder was completely gone (I basically had no brakes), but it didn't.

Hmm....

Hi TS 86,

5Th down on left is the Warning lamp that lights when handbrake lever is up, or low brake fluid level on my Uno.

If you have the same on your Uno perhaps the bulb has blown.

The handbrake applied indicator never worked on my MK1 Unos the switch was missing
