Older car cause more accidents because they are
a) old
b) cheap
c) driven by people who don't have money to afford a new car - either because they have just crashed and need some cheap car fast or because their very young and couldn't afford anything better... so typically they do not invest in repairs and drive the car till it falls apart... like I do.
Faster, gti-version cars cause more accidents because their drivers take more risks
Expensive, powerfull cars don't cause so much accidents because their drivers did pay lots of money for them and have the car mainly to show off to their collegues...
some models are cheaper to get insurance for than others because they typically stay in the garage most of the year (cabrios, restaurated oldtimers etc) and run few kilometers/year
It doesn't matter so much who drives the car - but young drivers will still have to pay more. As you get older, your bonus increases. I actually have a 30 % bonus, that is I pay only 30 % of normal insurance so I pay for my 1.4 SX bravo about 130 Euros / year. So Bravo 1.4 SX seems to be a very safe car...
