which tyres? winter or all weather

By all things i've heard all season tyres are a true jack of all trades....I.e. crap at everything so if I was going for a winter tyre i'd have a winter tyre not something thats not at home no matter what the conditions.

THat's basically what a friend I know who works for one of the big tyre companies as a tyre tester said. He said buy summer and winter tyres rather than just all weathers.

I got Vredestein Snowtrac 3's from mytyres.co.uk and they're great. Remember to get a tyre which is as narrow as the handbook allows because it'll be better in the snow and more likely than not, cheaper to purchase.

My 500 went from being crap on snow and ice to being pretty darn surefooted purely because of having winter tyres which are narrower than its summer tyres and of course because the compound and tread design are better for the conditions.
