Technical which pipe is fuel feed and which is return on mk1 1242 16v sporting?

as title really, on the Punto mk1 1242 16v Sporting / 85 which pipe to the fuel rail is the fuel feed and which is the return back to the tank?

given this picture;

centre frame there are two pipe connections, one is a barb, one is a fuel hose connector. i am assuming that the top is the fuel feed and the bottom (barbed one) is the return.

am i correct?

Don't know if this helps, but aren't return pipes usually the larger diameter ones? Dunno if you have/can see the hoses that came off.
