Technical Where do i stand with Fiat with a product recall?

Hey Guys

This is my first post so go easy with me,

Got a 55 Reg Punto with the Steering Column Fault.

Whats the latest on this can someone fill me in ?

Where do i stand is there any official recall for this is this it?

I would like to keep the car but not wanting to pay thousands for this repair its just not on and not worth it.

Can someone direct me on the best way of getting it sorted ? What should i do ?

If it was an official recall by VOSA - they still have to uphold it surly?

Is this a mk2b 55 plate or a grande punto as this was the cross over between the models and the grande had many more issues with the steering motors.

Ill get my full model number shortly but heard this fault was all over watch dog and is a common fault with puntos.

As far as I'm aware there was never and actual recall on the electric power steering system of the mk2 or mk2b punto

I don't think in this instance you'll get very far down the recall route as fiat would be expecting parts on a 9-10 year old car to fail and need replacement including parts of the steering assemblies
