I have tried a search with no luck really.

Does anyone know where i can buy a fault code reader for my 1997 Punto 1.1 Sx ?
I am needing it so i can read fault codes and generally know when sensors have gone tits up and it'd be good to have the ability and to turn off/clear lights etc.

Does anyone know of any other ones that can be used on my Punto and different makes of cars ?

I have been looking on ebay as well but unsure what interface the Punto has.
What connection is on the diagnostic socket beside the ECU as i know it aint a OBD one :(

Cheers

shouldnt really need it on a mk1 not a lot to go wrong that cant be sussed out with out one

Cheers mate
Mk1's still have the odd few sensors that you have no way of telling if they are knackered or not..
I need to know why my punto ain't starting thats why i thought it would be a good buy.
And if it works with other makes of cars its a bonus :)

breaker probably let you grab a hand full of sensors for a tenner

Been there today.
They only had
1x Seicento 1.1 Sporting
2x Mk2 Punto 1.2's

I robbed what i could from them then got home and did resistance checks on the TDC sensor i got from the Seicento and it was lower than my one, so swapped it over.
And the TDC Sensors from the Puntos had been cut half way up there wire :bang:

The coolant sensors were no good and i couldn't find MAP sensors :(

Both those sensors are really cheap, and easy to test with a multimeter. You'll only find the MAP (of the correct type) on Cinqs, early Seis, and Mk1 Pungos.

I'd never fit a s/h TDC sensor.

Very true.
I'd end up with no plugs sparking then..
