My Marea Weekend 100 SX is almost 5 years old, but only done 35,000 miles. Should I have the cambelt changed now or is this being premature? Should I wait until the mileage is higher? Would welcome advice, thanks.
Every 5 years or 50,000 miles. Whichever is soonest. This seems the most sensible schedule providing you want the car to last and last.
Oil/Air should be every 12,000 miles (or once a year) for petrols, and diesels on fully synthetic oil. 6,000 miles (bi-anually) for diesels on semi-synthetic.
Alfa withdrew the 72,000 mile service schedule and replaced it with the continental 60,000km. This is probably after having many cars fail to achieve 72,000 miles. Always best to air on the side of caution. You can always replace a cambelt early.. but you can't unsnap a broken one.
Just realised I said cambelt, should this be the timing belt? I called the an independant Fiat garage and they said it's the timing belt that needs changed. What is the difference and which should it be? Thanks
